Pedophiles Worse Than Murderers?

Okay, I know pedophilia is pretty messed up. Nobody wants to be molested (well, most people). I'm not trying to downplay any of that. But it seems to me that people are always consistently more outraged by pedophiles than... well, than anything, really. And I've never really been able to understand that. Someone kills someone else... okay, bad stuff, move on. Someone molests a kid... the lynch mobs come out. Plus there's the websites that tell you about sex offenders in your neighborhood. But I've never heard of a site that tells you about murderers in your neighborhood. Maybe it's out there somewhere, but I've never seen it. So what is it about sex crimes that outrages people in a way that even the most heinous of murders could never do? I'm nowhere near a fan of rape, but if I was forced to choose between being raped or being murdered, and the choice would seem fairly obvious. To me anyway.

Protective paternal and "big brother, big sister, protector" instincts. They're not dead. They're still alive. You can still protect them. If they're dead, you have to accept it and move on. With rape, they're alive and living with the knowledge and fear, which can eat at your soul.

Luckily for them, they can't get the death penalty no matter how henoius the crime was. As long as they don't commit murder.

Well, think about it. I know this is a weird way to look at it, but pedophilia (molesting a child) is like evil winning. The child represents goodness and innocence, while the pedophile is evil. Maybe something about that just makes people go nuts. Of course, the fact that pedophilia is a disgusting act may have something to do with it, too.

Also, think about the psychological impacts of pedophilia. You could potentially scar a child for life by doing something like that to them. While, with murder, you are simply killing them, molesting or raping a child will have long lasting impacts on them.

I am not trying to downplay either act. Both are pretty horrible. I was just trying to explain why some people may think pedophiles are worse than murderers.

A murderer is someone who as actually killed someone.

Pedophilia is simply an attraction to 6 -11 year olds. It does NOT mean they have raped anybody. Only a very small percentage actually do. Not all child molesters meet the criteria for pedophilia.

Being a pedophile in itself isn't illegal, although if an adult admits they are sexually attracted to preteens they'll be shunned and possibly even assaulted by disgusted people around them even if they never actually committed an illegal act. The act of sexual assault is what really gets their blood boiling. Fact is that most people have their own version of how justice should be and to most people with children raping a child is worse than murder. The main reason is because after a murder they're dead but after a rape they're probably going to have PTSD and other mental problems.

When it comes to registering as a sex offender the difference is that people who commit sexual assaults usually get out of jail eventually while people who commit murder are almost always put in jail for life if not executed. Of course, the problem with sex offender registration is that it isn't always being used for it's original intention. The main intention would be to alert you of a possible predator in your area so you know who to keep your kids away from. However, it has evolved into a vigilante's address book of people to harass and assault even if they're not doing anything wrong.

A murderer commits worse actions I believe, but they aren't as "sick". I mean, a movie like Leon is cool because Hitmen are badass, but pedophiles are just sick and no one could root for them, so I think its a society thing and personally I can't respect either a murderer or a pedo.

Pedos have to register because it is a habitually based crime with a high chance of repeat offenses. Murders that are of habit by people who will repeat almost never happen and usually people who would repeat already have and thus won't ever get out of prison anyway.

Without knowing much about death or whether life and people in general are good or bad, I don't see how I could answer it properly. It also matters a lot how it happens, and I have no idea how most murders or crimes of pedophiles happen.
You can have two people love each other, with an age difference too big for the law. Or you can have child molesting and rape. Or maybe using children for child pornography. Those are all very different. And murder... Maybe some murders are a good thing. Maybe they are never.
I'm trying but I just can't find a good answer.

Id say yes on account of the fact that pedo victims get to live with the resulting psychological horror their whole lives, wereas murder victims are dead and dont have to deal with the psychological damage (in that case its on their families to mourn)

It's mostly because if someone is a murderer (and it's known), then they are liekly already in prison, many pedophiles serve an average sentence of only 11 years.
