I just watched a video by Penn and Treller from their tv show Bull.... And frankly IT PISSED ME OFF! Please give me your opinions on this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rv46fsmx6e or go to youtube and search for Penn and Teller the Bible is bull****.

I am (as you can tell) a religious person (Christian) and found this video infuriating. Please tell me what you think of it agree or disagree please if you are willing post what religion you are along with your opinion on this video.

Some of the problems I found with their arguments were that all their examples of things we "pick and choose" to do from the bible (excpet for one i think) were from the old testament and for a Christian we follow the New testament so the old laws such as stoning an uncoupritive child are obsolete now. Also at the end of the video says and I quote "smart people are very good at rationalizing things they came to belive for irational reasons" I am a smart person me and many of my church friends are A-B students enrolled in multiple honors and advanced classes and I can perfectly rarionalize my religious believes. They only speak to 2 "experts" in this video and neither of them actually show us physical proof. He also says whats popular isn't always right which is true but what does that have anything to do with their argument and who ever said being a christian was popular.

I had MANY MANY more problems with this video but my arm may fall off if I typed them all out. So please watch this video and post your opinion on this forum.

P.S. I do like Penn and Teller when they do magic and this is not a post against them as a group just this one video of theirs. This post is not intended to offend anyone who agrees with them but to post my own and others opinions. Thank you.

They were right for the most part, including that pat about picking and choosing what parts of the bible to follow.

If it really is the infalliable word of God, you should be following everything, not just the secnd half of it. If the old testament no longer applies, why is it there? and why do Christians continue to tout the 10 Commandments? And if it is like you say, then where in the new testament are we told that the laws from the old testament no longer apply?

I've seen some of there stuff before and they typically give rather horrible arguments against theism. I've seen better arguments on these forums. o.0

Why does it make you mad? They have there beliefs and you have yours. You really shouldn't care.

It is there for the history of Gods people and so you can track the blood line of Christ and other new testament people. We don't follow all ten of the commandments only the ones we are told to follow in the new testament for example we are not told to follow the 7th commandment Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy because the Sabbath was Saturday and Christ told us to worship on the first day of the week Sunday. Romans 7:6 "We have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the spirit and not in the old way of written code" also when Christ died the curtain in the temple between the holy place and the holiest of holy places was torn down the middle symbolizing the end of the old law (found in Matthew 27:51, Mark 15:38, Luke 23:45)

One more point They state that there is no where that says that the Jews were held as slaves in Egypt well duh they weren't Jews yet they were just called Gods chosen people or the Israelites at that point. Also its widely known that the Egyptians had slaves to build their monuments but were does it say outside of the bible who they were or where they came from? And if there's no evidence against it then why not believe it?
