2007 was way better. From May to August I think I went to the movies once a week and I shattered any previous record of how many times I've been to the movies in a year. I knew in 2006 how good 2007 was going to be and I still stand by it as the best movie year ever. People like to be optimistic and act like what's going on now is the best but people need to face the fact that 2007 was much better than 2008. 2008 has The Dark Knight and some other good ones but that's it. After Dark Knight I might see X-Files and then nothing the rest of the summer. Not seeing a movie for all of August really shows how bad the movies are this year. Last June and July for example we had awesome movies like Die Hard, Transformers and The Simpsons and this year all we get in these two months are The Dark Knight and the disappointing Hancock. 2007 movies > 2008 movies

It's Summer, what did you expect?

Personally, I thought both the Simpsons and Transformers were huge let-downs last year.

Really? I have been to the movies so much this year, more than last year for sure. I can't wait for the X-files movie though, i wonder how they are going to resume the story. I know they said it's like a "stand alone" movie, but they can't just ignore everything that happend in season 9.

Because people don't like Spider-Man they tend to overrate any other superhero movie cause their mad that Spider-Man is the most popular superhero in the world.

So, what if it is? People can choose whether to go and watch a movie, but personally I've been to the movie theater quite often this year.

Hmm...this year had Cloverfield (don't act like I'm the only one who liked it, it got great reviews from critics), Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Indiana Jones (alright, this one wasn't fantastic but it wasn't bad either), Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Wall-E, Wanted, and Kung Fu Panda. Most of those were only from the summer. We still have Hellboy 2 (which is getting excellent reviews), The Dark Knight (same), Pineapple Express (which looks hysterical) and all of the Oscar-ish movies that will come out during the fall.

I don't remember seeing this many good movies last summer.

Although released in 07, "There Will Be Blood" and "No Country for Old Men" were released in 2008 over here, so I'm going to say this year has had better films.

Last year may have had more quantity, but I believe there is more quality this year.Wall-E is one of my favorite movies ever, and The Dark Knight looks amazing.

i find the spider man movies to be the bets superhero movies and have the bets villians, the joker is a moron i wish the dark knight used a different villian.

I liked spider man 1 and 3 the most, 3 was cool although there were those unneeded dance sequences.

I've seen three movies this year, which isn't as many as I saw last year. Last year is the reason I don't see many movies any more.

Surely you jest.

The Joker is probably the most evil and diabolical super villian to ever exist. Far better than Dr. Octopus, the Green Goblin and Sandman (although Venom and Carnage are in the same tier as the Joker).

I liked the first Spider-man, LOVED the second one (it's probably one of the best superhero movies ever), and kind of hate the third one. The third one took campyness and superhero angst to a WHOLE new level. Everything had a different, cartoony feel, and I hated that...I much prefer Iron Man or the new Hulk to Spider-Man 3. Hell, I prefer Kung Fu Panda to Spider-Man 3.

he doesnt have powers or anything he's just a crazy guy, i dont find it entertaining. I agree that doc oc and gobblin are kindas lame villians though.
