Yes, this is old news, but I just caught a little of them on TV. These movies are entirely contrived and have some of the worst scripting, worst acting, worst plot development, worst character development, and worst special effects (among worst other things) that I have ever seen. How did George Lucas watch these movies and actually give them the OK to be shown to the public? I mean, everything about all 3 of these movies is just abysmal. Does anyone else agree?

Most of you have probably already seen these reviews of the three movies, but if you haven't, you should watch them. They spell out most of the reasons behind my rant. http://confusedmatthew.com/The-Star-Wars-Prequels.php

Absolute trash.

1 and 2 were pretty bad, IMO, Revenge of the Sith deserves the title of 'Star Wars'.

Revenge of the Sith was ok.

Somehow nostalgia / being very young got me through the first 2.

I in 4 - 5 grade when Starwars Episode I came out and it blew my young mind :P

I only liked some of the special effects, but I got really annoyed with all the light saber, force mumbo jumbo...it's overdone by the minority fan base

I'll give you bad scripting, definitely. But everything else was decent. People forget the initial Star Wars trilogy was campy in its own way. So is this. The only change was Lucas helmed all three prequels, making the acting very hammed up, but no more than mark Hammil's acting in the initial trilogy. Initial prequel had ewoks, new trilogy had Jar jar. Both were bad. But no matter how iffy the prequel movies were at times, they cannot compare to how bad Episode VI was. It's the one reason why I want at least one more movie, or even a new trilogy, because anything would be a better ending to the saga than that pile of crap.

I laughed through most of Revenge of the Sith. Anakin choking Padme (the actors couldn't sell that at all), Palpatine calling Yoda his "little green friend," and Darth Vader's "NNOOOooOOOoooOOO" were so bad that I couldn't help but laugh. I guess the people around me didn't mind, because they were laughing too, eventually.

The prequels were supposedly made for "my generation," but the truth is that they suck. The characters are unrelatable and boring. I can't believe they're made by the same guy who did American Graffiti.

I still have a lot of respect for George Lucas, but there's no question that the prequels were severely lacking by any standard. (Besides effects obviously.)

What? He was a sheltered little adventurous kid who was super confident. Real force savvy and when he started getting a handle on his powers, he wanted more responsibility so he could help out more. He was the human factor out of th e Jedi, because they were able to put aside their emotions when he was incapable of it. When he lost his mom, he knew he needed to be more powerful and have more responsibility to protect those he loved from harm. Because of his emotions he was easily swayed to the dark side and corrupted by them. Pretty easy. In Episodes IV-VI, he was the Emperor's pawn, because he had all that power and no one to protect. Took a long time for Luke to be exposed, and in the final battle, he realized that his initial goal...to keep those he loved safe...could be met and he had a chance to reverse his failings a little bit and save his son's life. Mission accomplished, he dies.

Luke kills Darth and the Emperor is defeated. Death Star blows up again and the good guys win. Seems alright to me. Never had a problem with the celebration scene at the end.

I haven't seen Gerry, but my parents did and they think its the most horrible movie ever made. It's their benchmark for measuring bad movies.

The throne room scene alone ruined the movie. Worst acting in all the star wars movies, worst scripting, worst choreography, some of the worst camera shots, and basically ruined Darth vader, Luke, AND The Emperor in my mind. I thought it would be epic, but it was arguably the least climactic scene I've ever witnessed. All three characters had their validity demolished. Darth vader was no longer the daunting, skilled evil warrior. He was a slow, stupid, weak, uncoordinated mess...hardly a warrior worthy of any rank. The emperor, in all his might and long life, shows himself to be remarkably dumb in trying to kill off his partner and for not sensing Vader would say "hell no". Not to mention he's powerful enough to use force lightning but not capable of escaping Vader's clutches? Vader, who's since been shown as a weakling with little power. Luke...well, Luke was never a good character, and it was more his character that ruined the others because he single handedly ruined all credibility vader had in that lightsaber battle, in which a toddler could have shown more coordination and swordplay. He was unskilled with a lightsaber and with the force. His only power in that scene was being vader's son, which saved him. In the end, all three look incredibly weak and useless and it kills any prior atmosphere about each character that had been building. Not to mention the acting and writing was worse than what you could find on Snakes on a Plane. Outside the throne room scene and the ewoks, VI was a decent movie. But those two things crippled it, especially the final confrontation, and it capped off a series I hold dear and that probably deserves better.

If there's one thing I'll say about Gerry, it's great to have running if you want to show off a new TV or something. It's a bunch of slides of really cool shots. Some scenes are upwards of 20 minutes long, if I recall. One has the two characters shuffling across the barren wasteland for a very very long time. It's a great collection of beautiful shots, and the story is ....well, nonexistent aside from the meaning behind the journey...but it's not a bad movie. It did what it set out to accomplish.

I know. Sure, the kid was annoying at times, but *gasp* Jedi are trained from a young age, not starting in their teens. They needed Anakin to start young. They worked with that and it turned out well for what they aimed for. And Otoh Gunga was awesome, as was he journey there. The pod races were great, and the spawned the awesome SW:Ep1 Pod Racing game I had for the N64. :D

Not to mention, the best lightsaber battle scene, the Darth Maul fight.

The first three are great.

I hate the prequels. They really are hard to watch, the dialog is terrible, and the only thing I seriously watch them for are the lightsabre battles.

Revenge of the Sith belongs with the great 3 (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi)........but the other 2 aren't very good.

All you ever need to see are Episodes 3-6

I found that Episodes 1 and 2 really boring and I couldn't even finish the third one. Star Wars 4-6 were a lot more entertaining but I'm not a big fan, I enjoyed the films but I don't really care about Star Wars in general.

Revenge of the Sith on its own would be an unnecessary addition to an addition to the Star Wars series that wasn't particularly good but wasn't a complete travesty. The other two are just a disgrace.
