Android is the OS to beat right now (when you disregard that it doesn't have a picture of a fruit on the back). It's sleak, highly customizable, and aesthetically gorgeous. However, I think the fact that WP7 came out with such a solid user interface immediately out of the gate, and the fact that ALL of its phones get the updates simultaneously, it could be the one to beat within a year or two.

I always thought (IMO) that iPhones were a grossly overrated, yet (mostly) solid device, but the only reason people actually care so much about it is the fruit logo on the back. And that it comes out of the hands of a pompous and arrogant d-bag named Steve Jobs... I know I'm not alone here.

So which do you gamers prefer?

I know that webOS is making a rise with HP, and the OS is a multitasking God, but they've been out for too long to keep them as a separate category.

IOS is still the one to beat.

When ever a sight/place reviews a smart phone it always comes back to, "how does it compare to the Iphone".

Android though benifits from open nature and variety of phones.

It's been beat by the Android processer. And I'm hearing less and less about iPhones and a lot more people talking about Droids now when they are talking smartphone. The iPhone may still sell the most but it's far from the best.

I'm posting from my Samsung Galaxy S Captivate right now. Swype alone makes Android the best touch mobile platform, on top of it having the most support and none of the restrictions on content like iOS. The iPhone is all fashion and no real substance. The only things the iPhone 4 has over my Captivate is a higher resolution screen, camera flash and better cases. I have absolutely no regrets about going with Android, and am proud of my non-support of Apple.

The only real high end phone I've owned is a blackberry... I guess I'd rather have an Android( them keyboarded ones), but Metro doesn't carry them

Blackberry is pretty cool though. Definitely way less hassle, and way more function than my last phone

Windows Phone 7 was actually the best truly minimalist OS in years, but as ALWAYS MICROSOFT **** **** UP (Launch, Pricing, Carriers, Limited Feature Set).

THEY CAN NEVER GET THE MOBILE MARKET RIGHT.

I have the same phone (not posting from it right now though) and I love it too. We may have a lower res screen, but it's a Super AMOLED instead of boring old LCD, and it's a whole 1/2" bigger. We may not have a flash on the Camera, but we have a better camera. Some of the omissions puzzle me though: the lack of notification LED, the lack of flash, the lack of Front Facing Camera- all things my friend's Galaxy S Epic 4G has. Notification light is especially odd- why on earth would they not include that?

How so? The UI was lauded critically and by many at its release for such a solid product upon release. Other UI's like Android and iOS were considered failures, or did not achieve success at launch.

I like the iOS simplicity but the lack of costumazation is a big minus for me, also the fact that i have to use Itunes with it for it to work makes it very annoying. I like Andriods options for the consumer but it might be a bit confusing at time, overall i think it is the better OS So android for me

Yes Elaborate please. I helped pick out my sisters Christmas gift, which happens to be a Windows Phone 7. I picked it out specifically because of the price, (sale) But after trying the OS on the phone I've started to really enjoy it. It's very sleek, and catered specifically to the web, which is handy in this age of social web. It has a good growing app market and runs very smoothly. It's far from a failure.

Like others have said, I think Swype alone would keep me on a Android OS.

I'm kind of a sucker for the Iphone's "retinal display." Even if it's not actually a higher resolution than my eyes as they would have me believe it's a pretty damn nice looking screen.

Yes Elaborate please.

Maybe you were saying that's doomed to market failure regardless of the quality of the product, cybercatter, but it kinda looks like you're just bashing Microsoft without putting any thought into it.

It took MS too long to bring WP7 to market. It lacks the initial awe and fanbase that it might have had a year ago to make a decent foothold (MS's market share is half of what it was then).
Even with the announcement today that they're partnering with Nokia, it all seems too little too late.
