Pink Floyd is a band that is best to listen by the album.Ā  Singles are'nt really what they are all about.

I recommend you getĀ
Dark Side of the Moon
Animals
Wish You Were Here
and The Wall.

Try listening to there psychedelic stuff from the albums Atom Heart Heart Mother, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, or A Saucerful of Secrets....My favorite album is Animals and would recommend you try that one....all of pink floyds albums are good except for the latter stuff like final cut....My favorite song of all is Echoes, hope this helps!

'have a cigar' is a pretty sweet song. but really, you need to hear all their material from 1973-1979, the apex of their collective career. some of their earlier stuff [without syd barrett] is also pretty interesting.

Agreed.

You never struck me as a Pink Floyd guy...and as far as aongs go, everyone (well, mostly everyone) has named DSOTM and The Wall, but definitely check out their Syd Barrett era. I find it to be even more creative and unique

Albums. You must listen to whole albums. From beginning to end. They are like stories, and not hearing part of the story ruins it.

  • (1967) The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
  • (1968} A Saucerful of Secrets
  • (1969) Music from the Film More
  • (1969) Ummagumma
  • (1970) Atom Heart Mother
  • (1971) Meddle
  • (1972) Obscured by Clouds
  • (1973) The Dark Side of the Moon
  • (1975) Wish You Were Here
  • (1977) Animals
  • (1979) The Wall
  • (1983) The Final Cut

There... the complete, Pink Floyd enthusiasts "must listen to" list.

I know a mouse
And he hasn't got a house
I don't know why
I call him Gerald
He's getting rather old
But he's a good mouse
.

He wrote funny lyrics.

Anyway, my favorite Pink Floyd song is Us and Them......It has one of the most awesome sounding choruses I've ever heard.

Though a little off-topic, Children of Men had a HUGE connectionĀ to Animals, when Clive goes to see his friend in that rich skyscraper, look out the window and you'll see a surprise to Animals cover. I think the movie is also about animals being a symbol in general. End of off-topic catch

Hell... I would have listed them all. They are all great... until Roger Waters left...

I love "Saucer Full Of Secrets," "Relics" and "Atom Heart Mother"... but they usually are not recognized as "Pink Floyd" most of the time. They actually sound a lot like The Who in the early stuff... which was quite the "ear" opener the first time I heard it. It's all great. :D

I haven't really listened to "Atom Heart Mother", but my favorite song on "A Saucerful of Secrets" is "Jugband Blues", and my favorite off of "Relics" is definitely "See Emily Play"
