I just read this news yesterday, and it's just so sweet that Pixar went out of their normal work function to travel out and grant a girl's death wish... It's sad that she past away, but at least she died happy.

May Colby RIP.

That article was very sad, glad that she was able to have a happy last day, at least.

Call me a cynical bastard, but it's very good marketing to do something like this.

Either way; sad story, and I'm happy Pixar fulfilled her final wish. :)

"When I watched it, I had really no idea about the content of the theme of the movie," said Curtin, 46. "I just know that word 'Up' and all of the balloons and I swear to you, for me it meant that (Colby) was going to go up. Up to heaven."

Wow this line really meant something.....

Good marketing? Pixar did not even comment on this situation, let alone give information on which Pixar employee came to her house... It's just the family's gratitude towards Pixar's good deed and sharing the story - not a marketing ploy...

Nah the movie studios that make the movies tend to be nice, it's the publishers that are the problem. Pixar makes enough that they won't have to greenlight anything with Disney.... or at least they won't bother doing it. Sad story, hough it's nice of pixar to do that for her :)

I'm not saying Pixar did this for the good press, I'm always a little skeptical while reading stories like this. They still could've anticipated the family going to the press. But, yeah it probably was a genuine good deed.

When you think of it, what good do you think this would have done to Pixar if they were expecting good publicity anyways? They are already one of the most respected studios in the industry to this day, so it's not like they did this in a desperate move to gain some respect. They just wanted to do a good deed for a family.

Like I said, Pixar is not the one making this publicity. They had no intentions to either, and it's quite evident when they had no comment on the situation when contacted by the press.

This quote from the article is incredibly touching. I feel terrible for the family they are losing their daughter at such a young age, but it must opened the family's eyes into helping their daughter's wish come true. Man, this by far the saddest thing I've ever read in OT.
