So this morning I wake up and turn on the TV. Not much to watch at 4:30 AM, so I turned on the news.

Anyway, first thing I saw was a story about some pizza delivery man. Apparently he walked into a bank with a bag hanging over his neck. He said it was a bomb and tried to commit a robbery. After leaving, the police catch him. They hold him there at gunpoint and wait for the bomb squad to show up. While they're waiting, he's telling the cops about how a couple forced him to wear the bomb and rob the bank. So they're sitting there waiting for the bomb squad. And before the bomb squad shows up, the guy blows up.

Apparently, this incident happened about 6 years ago or something. I never heard about it before though. But apparently the only reason it was on the news today was because there was like, a new break in the case, or something. Apparently, the two people who "supposedly" made him wear the bomb have been identified. Or like, something like that.

But the news story was talking about how many people were debating whether he was an innocent victim or a co-conspirator. And I'm just thinking..."If he was in on it, why in the hell would he have worn a bomb that would blow him up?"

Anyway, this is about five minutes after waking up, and I just get this horrible picture in my head. Imagine you going to work one day. Just a normal day at work. You randomly get jumped off the street, people strap a bomb onto you, and make you commit crimes. You then have to spend the next several HOURS with a bomb strapped to you waiting for it to blow up. And when it finally does blow you into a million pieces, people blame you for the crime.

Now, I don't know if this guy was a co-conspirator or not. But if he wasn't, that's got to be just about the most awful thing I've woken up to since September 11, 2001. Can you even bergin to imagine the kind of fear that you would have if someone kidnapped you off of the street and made you rob a bank with a live bomb strapped to you? I can't even fathom that.

Anyway, I bring this up because that was the most horrible stuff I've seen in a LONG time. And really, waking up to that kind of **** just kind of ruins your day. They didn't actually show him blowing up, but they did show video of him standing there with the bomb around his neck. And I'm just thinking, what must his WIFE or CHILDREN feel about that? They wake up in the morning years later and turn on the news, and see video of their husband/dad standing there with a bomb strapped to him just before he blew up?

Absolutely horrible, man. I haven't been able to get that out of my mind all day.

Anyway, what was the last news story you've woken up to that totally put you in a bad ****ing mood for the rest of the day? Should the media tone down on this stuff even more? Like, did we really need to SEE the man standing there with a bomb strapped to him? Or is that equivalent to the piuctures of people falling out of the Twin Towers that were later censored from major media sources?

Id go to the police, they obviously had plans to kill you in the first place, so id try going right to the police. If they blow me up doing it, atleast i didnt commit any crimes.

Keep in mind, this is all assuming that he was innocent.

But if he was innocent, I think it's likely thast he was holding out hope that they wouldn't kill him if he met their demands. Sort of like how when people kidnap your daughter foir ransom they'll say "give us the money and she lives. If you talk to the police or the media, we'll kill her and it won't be quick."

I'd imagine that in a lot of cases, people WOULDN'T contact the police.

I think the most messed up thing that could ever happen is something from like the movies Hostel, Saw, or Hannibal...
I HATE Horror movies. To me they serve no purpose, and if you consider that the stuff in all those movies is real, and actually happens, now thats scary. Gotta watch your back, theres alot of weirdos out there.

yeah, if he was innocent.but if he was,my thing is, they obviously didnt wanna be traced to any of the crimes, and it worked. so from the beginning i would think, these guys dont ever wanna be traced back, there gonna make me do everything and kill me so its looks like a suicide, and thats it.

They may have put some kind of recording device on him to tell if he was doing what they told, and they told him if he told anyone, or ripped it off, they would set it off...

Than when he tried to tell the cops they made it explode...

Damn, that sucks.

Well yeah, same thing with kidnappings. When people kidnap your kid, there is absoluitely no logical reason for them to give the kid back after you've paid the ransom. Once you've [aid the ransom, they don't need the kid any more. And ANYTHING the kid remembers could remember could potentially incriminate the kidnappers. There is absolutely NO logical reason for them to give your kid back to you.

However, I have to say that if I was ever in such a situation, my actions might fly in the face of all logic. When people are that desperate, it's EASY to get them to abandon logic. And I honestly can't hold that against them. If I were ever in that kind of situation, I wouldn't expect me to act rationally either.

I remember hearing about this years ago, but I could not have told you exactly how many.

It was pretty widely covered, at least on the internet, that is for sure.

Cable news is a joke anymore though, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was little more than a blurb there followed by 5 hours of Michael Jackson coverage.

Here is an old article on CNN about it. I thought six years ago sounded a bit too long...

Man and a woman.

And I don't know.

But I'd assume not, since he was apprehended and blown up during the course of the robbery.
