"Glorious Mission" is a FPS in the StyIe of Call of Duty or America's ArmyDraugenCP

Wait, what? Those are two entirely different games.

Anyway, I don't see how this is any different morally from the heaps of American shooters in which you are encouraged to shoot tanned people with funny accents.

Floridians? :o
It's a joke. They have sun down there.
I'm American but I don't object except for "leisure program."

But if they release it, fine by me, it's a video game.

I thought the Battlefield series already had campaigns where US troops are the enemy. I played as the Iraqis many times in Desert Combat. The latest game where I sometimes play insurgent is ARMA 2:

Who cares? There are tons of other FPSs where you kill pretty much everyone else. Why do people act like US soldiers are special and different and shouldn't be killed in video games? They're killed in real life. I think people should care more about that then killing virtual soldiers in an FPS.

The US army uses training video games that put the US against Russia or middle eastern countries and did sell America's Army to the general public which put us against various enemies.

I really don't see the big deal here. It's good scenario, China vs. the US. Right now because China is such a large economic ally of us, it's kind taboo to make any war movie or game about us fighting china, but it's certainly not wrong that one is made.

Let them make their own video games. They want to make a China vs. America video game and make a chinese solider the protagonist, they can. Big deal. Vritual dudes get blown away. I would rather have that than real dudes.

The threat of war between the US and China is so tiny I think there's a better chance of Canada invading the US before any war against China.

It's all media hyberbowl. They are trying to blow it out of porportion.

That would actually be awesome. One of my favorite war movies of all time is Letters From Iwo Jima because it shows another side in the war.

These conflicts are past us. In order for us to better learn about the world at that time, we need to taught it from every angle. Putting us in a video game on the German's side of WWII, if it is done historically accurate in terms of culture and whatnot, would be a great way to learn how the German soliders thought of everything. Their leaders, the actions of their nation, their own patriotism. What wrong with that? Sure you shoot and kill Americans, French, British, or other allies, but really who cares? The conflicts are far behind us now.

Not to mention that, from a gameplay point of view, it opens up a whole new set of possibilities. A campaign mission as a German soldier in Berlin during the final days of the war? Sign me up.

I don't even think it being too soon or what ever. Its the mere fact that people who are not versed in history like to think the bad guys are evil people and they don't want to see them conveyed anything like our troops.

Yea that would be fun to play from the other side for a change.

As for the Topic in general, Well the US is the biggest Military power in the world so they are a good of an enemy as any i guess. I have no issue with it. Who else should China use instead?

I agree with this. I think it's funny how people keep painting China as a huge threat to the US. We are so economically interwoven that if one goes down, so does the other. But a lot of people still see China as it was in the 1970's.

Plus the game doesn't bother me whatsoever.

While it's true that there is no shortage of games where you kill American soldiers (and certainly no shortage of games where you kill virtually every other nationality AS Americans), the difference here that's getting people riled up is that it's not a commercial game but rather a game commissioned by China's government. Not just that, but it's being used to train their soldiers. It's a pretty offensive move to make diplomatically speaking. Russia, for example, was already pissed enough at their portrayal in MW2. Imagine what that reaction would have been like if the game had been commissioned by the US military and used to train American soldiers.

Its not so much of a training tool or simulator as a recruiting tool. The reason they made it was becuase of the success of America's Army as a recruiting tool. If you want to make a game where you fight a modern military instead of terrorists held up in caves then the US is as good of an enemy as any other.

So what if it is sponsered by the Chinese government? How is that any worse than the fact that the US military has plans on how to invade other countries or training exercises to attack other countries or nationalities "just in case."? This one just happens to take place on screens with pixels instead of on a field with paintball guns.

It doesn't, I think it's the leisure part of the training and leisure program that it's part of haha. Really this game is sort of like the PLA's America's Army which is a pretty fun game! I like doing the night time missions but though I do not think they specify any particular enemy in AA.

I have no idea, but people seem to be getting uptight about this game the army is using to train their troops.

 As if the United States Military doesn't do the same thing. Seriously why is this even an issue, games are made that kill pretty much every other group of people. :|

Just because you don't win at the end of the game doesn't make it worthless. The journey to the end is very important.

Unless that was meant to be a joke post (referring to that you can't beat the U.S. army), in which case just disregard my post.

To be fair their stated objective was to prevent communism from spreading to the south. It did. I would call that a loss. I remember killing Americans as the PLA in BF2 so who cares.

I suspect this is a joke thread, but u've been able to kill american soilderes in call of duty for years, along with about a million other fps.

If u've played a few matches odds are u've spawned on the bad guys side i.e. russians, nazis and terrorists, and u kill the american team.
