Wow. Just watch this video. This is blatantly illegal! A girl claiming to be 15 went in for an abortion and said she was impregnated by a 27 year old. By state law the clinic must report this, but they didn't. This site also has a link of all the cases where Planned Parenthood has been caught breaking state laws- In West Hartford there was a clinic that failed to report a case in which at 14 year old was abducted and raped by a 41 year old who brought her to the clinic to have the abortion (he is now convicted by DNA from the aborted fetus, but I don't think the clinic has been convicted yet).

This organization is so corrupt and so criminal, and yet they get taxpayer money! And they are tax exempt

Is the Church tax-exempt too?

Yep. Churches are non-profit, and thus, pay no taxes.

1. Yes they are tax exempt, but they are not government funded (only some charities affiliated or run by them get government funds) like Planned Parenthood is. 2. They actually have been turning the situation around since 2002, and now spend more money on preventing abuse then they do in court cases involved in that abuse. and "About 83 percent of the offenders among diocesan clergy are deceased, already removed from ministry, already laicized or missing."

No, most of those have been sent to ministries where the can't have contact with children, such as monasteries, administrative positions, liaisons, etc.

Okay, sweet. I just liked putting you on the defensive for a bit, due to the irony of this thread. ;)

I think what he was alluding too is that the TC, whose pattern of posting is pretty much either: A. State how awesome the Catholic Church is B. State how horrible institutions that interfere in any way with the Catholic Church are ...might be a touch of a double standard here for stating on the one hand "This organization is so corrupt and so criminal, and yet they get taxpayer money! And they are tax exempt" with regards to Planned Parenthood while completely defending an institution that had a far larger, far more widespread, and far more systematic coverup of criminal activity over the last few decades. The fact that the Catholic Church link he listed in his recent post is proclaiming that 83% of the offenders are either deceased, removed from ministry, laicized or missing doesn't strike me as a particular great defense of his double standard here. 1. 83% still leaves a LOT of offenders still active in the ministry 2. I'm not even sure that I trust that figure given the decades long coverup by the Catholic Church on this issue The end point here is that the old bible quote about "you hypocrites! First remove the log from your own eye and then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your neighbor's" seems to be particularly pertinent.

Actually the source said the public school system is even worse! Plus the Church abuse was primarily from 1950- 1980, whereas the Planned Parenthood cases (which ahem, are the topic of this post) are very recent most from the 90's and the 2000's.

Pointing out that you're exercising a double standard by completely excusing the Catholic Church of abuses that were covered up for decades and then saying "but the public school system is even worse" is topical in my opinion. You're not saying that this other institution, which gets federal funding and is tax exempt, didn't break the law and cover it up over and over again for decades. That is a given that everyone, including the Catholic Church, has now accepted. So why are you ONLY pointing the finger at Planned Parenthood? I'm not saying that in the item you listed there Planned Parenthood was in the right. What I AM saying is that, as a religious person, you should be familiar with the saying "Don't judge lest you in turn be judged." It is clear that you have strong views on abortion and therefore have a particular axe to grind against Planned Parenthood, but that doesn't make the point that on this issue the Catholic Church doesn't have a whole lot of moral credibility less valid. The point I am trying to make here is that you haven't proven your case that the organization of Planned Parenthood AS A WHOLE is corrupt and criminal and should be punished. Is just a few cases over a span of years for such a large organization enough to paint the entire organization as some sort of criminal enterprise? If that is the standard, then why not take down the public school system? Why not take down the Catholic Church? The answer is that organizations can, on balance, be a force for good despite some slip ups.
