Been to the doctor said should heal in few weeks. been trying to find out online what this bone is called but can't find anything. Does anyone know what that bone is called?

Side of the belly button? :?

If you've got a bone around there, then I think the doctor's treating the wrong problem...

I'm just as confuzzled as you are. The only bones i know of close to the belly button are ribs and the pelvic bone.

Um... like the diagram shows, there's no bone between your hip and ribs unless if you go to the vertebrae on your back. The hip bone is one big bone called the pelvis.

There's a big post about this on the "Ask the Mods" board.

If I had to guess, you're trying to solve the wrong problem. You've either got an insanely tight muscle, a kidney stone, appendcitus, or a disease where all of your cartilige turns into bone, in which case you've got bigger problems than a bit of pain.

That would be your pelvis. If it's not your pelvis, it's something else that needs to be checked out right now, cuz we're telling you, there's no bone between your pelvis and your rib cage.

It is more common to occur in old people, but people are born with deficiencies all the time, and it could be that your kidneys are born with the inablity to get rid of a certain mineral effectively. Who knows.

I really don't think it's a bone. If you caused trauma to the muscles, it could very well be the fact that they are tightened pretty badly. There quite literally is no bone in the area you are talking about. It's another problem. I would sugguest getting a second opinion from another doctor.

I'm doing my best to not blow the "BS" whistle.

Wait, did you say it only hurts when you run? It's prob this then.

http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/26961

It's caused by pain in your diaphragm, either by not being in shape, exercising too soon after eating, or not being properly hydrated. It goes away. And it's not a bone.

You said in the first post, it only hurts when you start running, no? If it's only then it's what I said. If it's all the time, then I have no idea, you should go to the doc.

Ok, so let me get this straight. You have a large mass in your side, where no human should have a mass, and it's been causing you massive pain every day for over a month now...

The tongue is an organ. You can put pressure on your organs in many ways, and yes, if they mess up and get harder than they're supposed to, you'll feel them. Especially on the side of the body, where the musculature isn't as thick as it is in other places. If you don't believe us, why don't you go ask a doctor?

Ok, let me say this one more time. If it's not your hip, which extends slightly above the waistline, then there can only be muscles or organs there. The only way you'd have a bone there is if something ossified or if a rib broke off and migrated there.
