Not police dogs.Really? So police dogs can go batshit crazy and not be put down? :? Police dogs are trained to attack people on command, and take them to the ground to human police can make the arrest. Thus, one can conclude that Police dogs who attack people are not put down. But mayyybeee she shouldn't have been shoplifting $350 worth of stuff in the first place.

Interestingly, but slightly off topic, police dogs are also trained to give false alerts when it comes to searching for drugs.

Just bad logic. What this woman was doing is ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT. She was in custody, and posed no visible threat to the officer who attacked her. It was an attack. The officer should be fired immediately, and this woman should sue the police force for using unnecessary force.Do you think she should have had her hand cut off too? This isn't iSlam, mate. It's entirely irrelevant because it was after the crime had been committed. She was under arrest in security office. Your faulty logic can also be applied to other situations where the police view something a person is suspected of doing as illegal and beating them. Beating them isn't part of the punishment the criminal will receive. It's unprofessional, and absolutely shameful. We should all hold the police to an extremely high standard, because we trust them enough to let them have the ability to use lethal force against people in a legal fashion. Seriously, what if this woman had died from being hit in the head? What would your verdict be then? Again, just because you hate theives doesn't suddenly give police the right to assault them after being placed in custody. If she was in any way resisting arrest, it would be a bit hazier of a scenario. But because this woman was sitting in custody, surrounded by officers with no way out of the room, I have to disagree with you on every level you're trying to argue. To the point where I'm hesitant to continue because I think you're trolling me.[QUOTE="chrisrooR"][QUOTE="KingOfAsia"]I've never seen a more obvious troll. What about something like OJ Simpson? Hell, half of you are crying Zimmerman got free. Justice doesn't always work, but nobody is getting any closer to a police state because of it. Back in the 20s and 30s you probably had worse cases of police incompetence going unpunished, and actual police brutality and massive corruption, and I don't remember people being worried about living in a police state.
This is a fluke, stop being paranoid.
This is a fluke, stop being paranoid.chaplainDMK>Woman is caught shoplifting, security takes her to a secure room and calls police. >Police arrive on the scene >Police enter room, talk with security and woman briefly, before assaulting woman. >Entire assault was caught on camera >Police acknowledge the incident and tell the public they will deal with it. >6 months later, Officer still has not been reprimanded. If it was a civilian assaulting an officer, the civilian would be in jail. However because it was an officer assaulting a civilian, and the fellow officers opt to ignore it, the officer gets off with no charges. When police refuse to police themselves and fellow officers, they're creating a police state.

No they're not, you probably did stuff that was questionably legal/ illegal to help your friends/co-workers (as in cover stuff up), and you didn't have any large agenda behind it. These guys are just acting above the law, just like many other regular people all over the world, but they aren't making a police state.

Meh...
I would like to know more about what was said and done. The video really dosnt give the full story.
"Of course" I feel bad for the woman and the child had to witness that. "But Maybe" one can think..Have I ever been felt up by a cop? Nope. Beat down by a cop? Nope. Been detained by a cop and roughed up'ed? nope. So just maybe one can say don't put yourself in a situation where that can happen.
GreySeal9
I really don't see what that lady could have done to justify that kind of beatdown.
To be clear... i'm not on the side of the cops....I just don't like it when whoever does the reporting edits the clip. The video cuts out at 30 seconds and was edited to a later time stamp. To go one further the time stamp was blocked out so we don't know how long the officers were trying to detain her. Which for me raises an eyebrow.
Simply put thats why I said "I would like to know more about what was said and done. The video really dosnt give the full story."
We simply dont know from whats on the video to what really went down. The cops could be the asshole or the lady had a gun..We just dont know.

Well, we could speculate on it all day long but given the police conduct record as of late, it wouldn't surprise me if the beating was indeed, unwarranted. Saying that, I would like to see a slightly more credible source covering the story. I think TYT is good for exposing certain practices that mainstream outlets aren't willing to touch. I agree with what you're saying except for that last part about the NSA. It's been proven they aren't spying solely on criminals, they're spying on the general population without probable cause. The police may not be as bad as third and second world countries, but you shouldn't weigh the United States against those places because it isn't a second or third world nation. It's a first world nation, and the police should embody that. And yes, there are instances where the NSA can retroactively go back and pull things from your history online/phone calls or emails and use them against you. To me, that's much scarier than being beat up by a gang of thugs. Privacy is much, much more important.[QUOTE="Gargus"][QUOTE="eggdog1234"] US is undoubtedly a police state now. chrisrooR

I was just saying that something like "they spy on criminals its a police state" is the kind of reasoning a lot of americans would have.
I wasnt comparing third world countries to the US. I was simply saying that those countries really do have a police state, america doesnt. It has nothing to do with the economics of things, I was just illustrating what an actual police state is vs a country where there isnt one yet people claim it is without any real knowledge of what a true police state is.
I can understand though about people worrying about being spied on. But to me it isnt an issue because I dont do bad things. Yeah I did a couple stupid things when I was a kid. But I dont kill people, dont sell drugs, I dont promote terrorism, dont sell government secrets, or anything like that. I dont care if they do spy on me because I have nothing to worry about. Im a nobody, no one cares enough about me to spy on me and if they do it wont impact my life. And life is to short to go on worrying constantly about being spied on, my life is probablly half over. When Im dead nothing that has ever happened in my life will matter anymore.
