I know. Perhaps a bit too humane. This violent dog attacked a woman who was defending herself, then tucked his tail between his legs and spouted a bunch of lies. Dogs who attack people are put down.

Police dogs are trained to attack people on command, and take them to the ground to human police can make the arrest. Thus, one can conclude that Police dogs who attack people are not put down. Unless they put down a police dog after it's first day on duty.

Of course, what happened to this woman was terrible and that particular officer is an insult to the badge...

But mayyybeee she shouldn't have been shoplifting $350 worth of stuff in the first place.

Interestingly, but slightly off topic, police dogs are also trained to give false alerts when it comes to searching for drugs.

Just bad logic. What this woman was doing is ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT. She was in custody, and posed no visible threat to the officer who attacked her. It was an attack. The officer should be fired immediately, and this woman should sue the police force for using unnecessary force.

It's perfect logic, If she didn't break the law the cop would have had no one to attack and she wouldn't have got her ass beat.

And what she did is not irrelevant, I hate theives.

It's entirely irrelevant because it was after the crime had been committed. She was under arrest in security office. Your faulty logic can also be applied to other situations where the police view something a person is suspected of doing as illegal and beating them. Beating them isn't part of the punishment the criminal will receive. It's unprofessional, and absolutely shameful. We should all hold the police to an extremely high standard, because we trust them enough to let them have the ability to use lethal force against people in a legal fashion. Seriously, what if this woman had died from being hit in the head? What would your verdict be then? Again, just because you hate theives doesn't suddenly give police the right to assault them after being placed in custody. If she was in any way resisting arrest, it would be a bit hazier of a scenario. But because this woman was sitting in custody, surrounded by officers with no way out of the room, I have to disagree with you on every level you're trying to argue. To the point where I'm hesitant to continue because I think you're trolling me.

And? Police are held to a higher standard and while officers will make mistakes in the line of duty, this whole situation didn't look like a mistake or accident. :|

Same can be said about doctors, lawyers, or servicemen/women.

I'm joking about the Police State paranoia. Cops are a bunch of people that think like people, so obviously you have deviations like this guy. This guy doing this doesn't bring you any closer to a police state than that random guy killing his wife does to a country run by murderers or something.

The fact this cop assaulted someone in Febuary, and still has his job, and has not received any punishment for his actions. Tell the public that this kind of behavior is acceptable, which leads them to believe we're getting closer to a police state. Once the public is no longer outraged by this behavior, cops will be free to assault people, as their fellow officers seemingly do not care (as we can see in this case)

What about something like OJ Simpson? Hell, half of you are crying Zimmerman got free. Justice doesn't always work, but nobody is getting any closer to a police state because of it. Back in the 20s and 30s you probably had worse cases of police incompetence going unpunished, and actual police brutality and massive corruption, and I don't remember people being worried about living in a police state.

This is a fluke, stop being paranoid.

What a load of absolute garbage. Firstly, we don't live in the 20's and 30's anymore. We live in 2013, where there IS a higher degree of responsibility with police officers and the decisions they make. Just because there WAS massive corruption and brutality doesn't mean it should be tolerated and allowed to continued. Again, what an absolute load of trash. OJ or Zimmerman are completely irrelevant because on both accounts neither person was a police officer or expected to act in line with laws. Police are there to serve the community and enforce, and abide, by the law. What you just said makes no sense.

>Woman is caught shoplifting, security takes her to a secure room and calls police. >Police arrive on the scene >Police enter room, talk with security and woman briefly, before assaulting woman. >Entire assault was caught on camera >Police acknowledge the incident and tell the public they will deal with it. >6 months later, Officer still has not been reprimanded. If it was a civilian assaulting an officer, the civilian would be in jail. However because it was an officer assaulting a civilian, and the fellow officers opt to ignore it, the officer gets off with no charges. When police refuse to police themselves and fellow officers, they're creating a police state.

Oh so civilians are not expected to act in line with the laws? I never said the officer shouldn't be punished, I just said that they aren't making a damn police state because they are acting with typical human stupidity/hypocrisy.

No they're not, you probably did stuff that was questionably legal/ illegal to help your friends/co-workers (as in cover stuff up), and you didn't have any large agenda behind it. These guys are just acting above the law, just like many other regular people all over the world, but they aren't making a police state.

Meh...

I would like to know more about what was said and done. The video really dosnt give the full story.

"Of course" I feel bad for the woman and the child had to witness that. "But Maybe" one can think..Have I ever been felt up by a cop? Nope. Beat down by a cop? Nope. Been detained by a cop and roughed up'ed? nope. So just maybe one can say don't put yourself in a situation where that can happen.

GreySeal9

I really don't see what that lady could have done to justify that kind of beatdown.

To be clear... i'm not on the side of the cops....I just don't like it when whoever does the reporting edits the clip. The video cuts out at 30 seconds and was edited to a later time stamp. To go one further the time stamp was blocked out so we don't know how long the officers were trying to detain her. Which for me raises an eyebrow.

Simply put thats why I said "I would like to know more about what was said and done. The video really dosnt give the full story."

We simply dont know from whats on the video to what really went down. The cops could be the asshole or the lady had a gun..We just dont know.

[QUOTE="Ragnarok1051"]

Why did you change the title?

eggdog1234

maybe he realized the US isn't a police state?

US is undoubtedly a police state now.

No, it isnt even close to being one.

Thats a kneejerk reaction spouted out by younger people or just incredibly naive older people who want to jump on the bandwagon of how bad the US is when they really have no idea of what a police state truly means.

Travel to a country like brazil, north korea, veneuzela, and others and youll see a country where you can get your ass arrested for looking the wrong way, get the shit beat out of you because someone doesnt like the look of you, or hell burma police have been known to beat and torture transgender people for no real reason. Ive been to iran as well and seen shit I would consider a police state. Hello a lot of places in africa dont even have police, they are run by fear and death of just gangs, or politicians that enforce law through violence.

Most americans though only pay attention to america. They have no real concept of how things work in other countries or the rest of the world. They are closed minded idiots in general. Of course if all you watch is the news and pay attention to bad news things will look bad. Sure we have some bad cops, everyone does, but its the bad cops that always get a lot of attention. Sure there is 1 cop that beat some suspect, ok thats great but what about the other 981,745 cops in the US that werent on the news for being bad cops?

Americans say the most ignorant stuff like "OMG! They have cameras at the park! I heard from the internet that some cop somewhere arrested some person for something they didnt do a couple years ago! The NSA can spy on criminals! THIS COUNTRY IS A POLICE STATE!"

Well, we could speculate on it all day long but given the police conduct record as of late, it wouldn't surprise me if the beating was indeed, unwarranted. Saying that, I would like to see a slightly more credible source covering the story. I think TYT is good for exposing certain practices that mainstream outlets aren't willing to touch. But it's not something I'd solely rely on in terms of source material.

maybe he realized the US isn't a police state?

Gargus

Finally someone without a tin-foil hat. God damnit.

[QUOTE="thebest31406"] So if she had a gun, the senseless beating would be justified? Sorry, but no.thebest31406

Well if you want to play that...yea and she was told to drop it...what do you think the police would do...just play patty cake? and then it's still senseless right?

Well, we could speculate on it all day long but given the police conduct record as of late, it wouldn't surprise me if the beating was indeed, unwarranted. Saying that, I would like to see a slightly more credible source covering the story. I think TYT is good for exposing certain practices that mainstream outlets aren't willing to touch. But it's not something I'd solely rely on in terms of source material.

I wasnt speculating on anything. More so pointing out that we dont have all the info to truly draw a conclusion on. The video in its current state is edited and the fact is we dont know what happened in the time lapse of the edit. Could it be unwarranted? AbsolutelyBut it could be just as much warranted due to lack of information provided by the video.  Im not a person that drives off of a past issue and solely draws a conclusion to a new issue using the past. The police could of had some unwarranted issues in the past, but that doesn't mean in this case the police are wrong.

I agree with what you're saying except for that last part about the NSA. It's been proven they aren't spying solely on criminals, they're spying on the general population without probable cause. The police may not be as bad as third and second world countries, but you shouldn't weigh the United States against those places because it isn't a second or third world nation. It's a first world nation, and the police should embody that. And yes, there are instances where the NSA can retroactively go back and pull things from your history online/phone calls or emails and use them against you. To me, that's much scarier than being beat up by a gang of thugs. Privacy is much, much more important.

Well I was being facetious really. I was just saying that something like "they spy on criminals its a police state" is the kind of reasoning a lot of americans would have.

I wasnt comparing third world countries to the US. I was simply saying that those countries really do have a police state, america doesnt. It has nothing to do with the economics of things, I was just illustrating what an actual police state is vs a country where there isnt one yet people claim it is without any real knowledge of what a true police state is.

I can understand though about people worrying about being spied on. But to me it isnt an issue because I dont do bad things. Yeah I did a couple stupid things when I was a kid. But I dont kill people, dont sell drugs, I dont promote terrorism, dont sell government secrets, or anything like that. I dont care if they do spy on me because I have nothing to worry about. Im a nobody, no one cares enough about me to spy on me and if they do it wont impact my life. And life is to short to go on worrying constantly about being spied on, my life is probablly half over. When Im dead nothing that has ever happened in my life will matter anymore.
