Polish president killed - start of World War 3?

The Polish president was killed in a plane crash in Russia with his wife and 95 other passengers. Anyone think this will spark WW3? I bet this is an assassination and Lech Kaczynski is the new Franz Ferdinand.

Could be. All of this seems too much of a coincidence for it to be an accident.

That was due to chain ganging.. Where countries had private treatied alliances with neighbors.. So when one had a disagreement, an entire posse of other nations joined in.. NATO and the UN were specifically created to stop anything like this happening again.. And the only way we will have World War 3 with nuclear powers is when natural resources are called into question imo.

War with first world power is bad for business.. We have exported war with third world powers where we entrench our control within economy and their natural resoruces.. The only way we will ever see a major war like that again (which most likely would lead to an end of the world scenero), is when China, Russia, and the United States butt heads for fossil fuels.

What about Iran being involved? Ahmadinejad announced that they had "fully mastered nuclear technology." That was less than a day ago. So Iran says they have mastered nuclear tech while the USA has made negotiations with Russia to decrease their number of nuclear arms. What if Iran thinks that this is a good time to strike?

Had Putin apologised for Russia's actions in Katyn 70 years ago, as was originally expected today, the currently volatile Polish-Russian relations would certainly have taken a turn for the better. As it happens, the crash occurred mere miles from the site of the original massacre.

Poland is probably America's most significant ally in Eastern Europe at the moment. I don't think war is exactly imminent but who knows how this incident is going to be interpreted globally in light of more recent American plans to build anti-missile defences in Poland and the suppposed headway made in arms limitation treaties.

So does this mean that as of right now Poland has no government?

Why that makes it the perfect time for Russia to annex the whole country.

World War III? Not remotely likely, especially from something like this. Russia probably has nothing to do with this. They have no interest in controlling resentful satelite states that cost way too much money to maintain control of anymore.
