There is no real cloning yet...they can't replicate a human being. Actually a long way away from something like that. The closest they've come is to grow human organs inside a cow...they could save a lot of lives. The other thing that's been done is implanting DNA early on to get the baby looking just as the parents want. Anything more sophisticated is a long way away.
We talked about this in science once, there are the pros and cons..
But even if you did use them as soldiers, they would be babies at first and they would have to agree to be soldiers
Plus you gotta think if they have rights or not (like their your slave or something)
Invent laws too... :|
its somewhat good in a way where we could make the perfect solider and use an army of them instead of regular innocent people dieing from warleonard88
Good Lord! Clones would be nothing less than regular humans, just born in another way. The very idea of what you say is not at all diferent than what war is today.
It's undeniable that cloning would help the medical system, but don't forget that every new scientific discovery gets a military application, and when talking about cloning, the possible consequences frighten me.
I'm all for human cloning because even though it's really weird and probably wrong, I find it to be one of the most interesting things in the world. I think that's why I love the movie The 6th Day so much because I find stuff on cloning fascinating.MM87
Even though you know it's wrong, you're for it becuase it's... interesting?? These are human lives we're talking about here!
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Against it until it can be proven to not cause any genetic problems.MrGeezer
I'm against it RIGHT NOW for that same reason. Hoeer, I'm assumin g that that's something that can be fixed as technology adances.
This applies to me as well. Once all the wrinkles are ironed out, I'm all for it.
I'm against simply as there seems to be little point for it, no point overcrowding the planet more and spending funds for no reason
Genetic modification of bacteria is where i'ld put the funds
I'm against human cloning for one reason. We do not have the ability to know or to not know what is right or wrong. We may be doing something we think is good and necessary and then find out we just screwed ourselves over. Which is often the case with humanity.
I believe it's better to do nothing. Sit back and watch and see what happens next. But for some reasons us humans think it's our duty to advance, and if anything we are only advancing towards destruction because we don't know enough yet to make a logical decision about anything.
I thought the cloning process was basically creating a baby that will turn out exactly like the parent. Therefore, it's a normal human baby, so everyone saying weapons testing would be condoning killing people. DisturbedChild7

But testing weapons on humans seems a little extreme.

I must be tired, i came in, read the topic, read the first message, read the poll, voted, THEN realised that it was human CLONING and not human CLOTHINGFrostyPhantasm
What did you vote?
When you clone, there's no DNA evolution, it's an act against nature, not surprising clones die faster than the originals, therefor I'm against it. I am all for science as long it doesn't mess with natural progressions.
Cloning body parts for amputees? Perhaps.
Cloning actual people? No... that's just something I don't think we should do. It would undermine notions of individuality and possibly even humanity itself. >_>
And even then, what about the clones themselves? What would you use a human clone for? To replace a loved one? That person is already dead, and you can't truly bring that person back. And using them as a labour/testing/military source would undermine basic human rights. They would naturally want to be a part of society. But what would society think? Clones would be subject to prejudice, if people were aware what they were. They'd be treated as second-class citizens. >_>
