I think that statement applies to Sabbath/Maiden alot more, Metallica have alot of crap, but their best work is the BEST

All of those bands are excellent, and its hard to choose, but I would have to say Iron Maiden..just...it's so close I almost considered not voting.

How can people STILL like Metallica, They had one REALLY good album and that was there first one. The last 5 were utter rubbish and the rest were okay. I think so many people like them because it is "cool" to like there watered-down "Metal".antiredcap

For sure! The self titled album (or "black" album as most people call it) and every album after it can't compare to those three and are REALLY OVER RATED!

Kill em' all, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets are all amazing in my opinion, the black album is great (a little overrated, since Enter Sandman is pretty much there signature track, though I still like it), and the rest are mediocre. However, it's not just about whats new, and metallica had some great tracks off those albums.

anyway from my stand point on that list

1. black sabbath (without them this thread wouldnt exist)
2. metallica (there old stuff)
3. Pantera (R.I.P Dimebag)
4. Slayer (Raining BLOOD!!)
5. Iron Maiden (Eddie is sooo cool)

I would have to go with Metallica Sabbath (I can't choose between the two).

The rest of the choices are very "meh" though......

Absolutely. Had every single one of their posters growing up, (Eddie rocks!) But my parents made me take them down along with taking most of my tapes, thought it was "devil" stuff. To say I was upset would be an understatment. I make them feel guilty about it all the time 20 years later :P

For me, second would go to Metallica. Master of the Puppets and Ride the Lighting, give me lots of awsome memories as a kid.

What about Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice for All?

And after that you can refer to them as "watered-down". The Black album was their first "watered-down" album, and its a pretty damn good album (although I much prefer their earlier work), only reason its hated by a lot of Metallica fans is because it was a radical departure from their previous work.

And after that every album has sucked.

Maiden has been far more consistent. They released 2 crappy albums but that was after they had changed lead singers...for the second time.
