Windir was a black metal/polka band.  That kicked righteous hiney.  My favorites are any that do their thing well, or just do something flat out strange (Carnival in Coal comes to mind).

my favorite sub-genres are symphonic metal, epic metal, speed/power metal, and folk/viking metal

 Classic Heavy Metal eg Iron Maiden

Speed Metal eg  Racer X

Modern Heavy Metal eg Opeth

So which metal genre are you guys more into? Which suits you more? High pitched vocals and shrieks, or growls and snarls?tzar3

 

 

lyrically: black metal (standing up for your own race is awesome)

musically: Power metal, death metal take the cake.
