I don't believe in "aliens" but I believe there is some other form of life out there.

im not talking about THAT meteorite! im talking about the stuff they got back from the mars rover. oh,another thing I forgot to mention was that they confirmed that there still is water on mars. were theres water theres life. never give up hope man.

Am I the only one who hates it when people say that water is essential to life? Seriously, Chemistry is an expansive subject. What we think of as Chemistry on Earth may be unheard of 5 Billion light years away. They could have chemical formula's and entire elements that are completely different from anything we've ever seen. Water may be essential to life on Earth, but maybe Wood could be essential to life on a planet in a galaxy 5 Billion light years away. Everything is different, even the requirements for life across the Universe. Also, Broken- Thanks for the WOW Signal. Ill be sure to check that out!

Chemistry is universal, as it is governed by physics, which is also universal. There couldn't be other elements, because all of the elements that don't inherently decay within nanoseconds have already been discovered. There is no integer between 5 and 6, so why should there be another element between Boron and Carbon?

Water is considered to be essential because of its unique properties, most notably its means of proton transfer, polarity, relative molecular stability, and properties as a solvent.

But how do we know that Chemistry and Physics are Universal? We know next to nothing about how the Universe truely works, and we definately dont know everything about Chemistry/Physics so who's to say that what makes up life at the other side of the Universe wont be completely different than what makes life possible here.

Because everything we have seen occur in the universe through our telescopes does not show that. It shows that the same constituents that make up Suns on one side of the Universe are the same constituents that make up Suns on the other side of the universe.

Do you actually think we see the whole Universe? Scientists think that 90% of the Universe is completely invisible. We have no idea whats going on out there.

I take it you are referring to Dark Matter and Dark Energy. Dark Matter still follows the same physics as normal matter does from what we've seen. It's makeup is another question. Dark Energy is still quite mysterioous and scientists really have no idea what it is. However both of these things are found throughout the universe.

Exactly, and we havent even came close to seeing everything that is actually happening. We're always discovering new material about our own planet, and we live here! We have never been out of our Solar System (As far as I know), so we cant possibly know whats really going on.

If there is, ain't going to be anytime soon.

Aliens are stereotyped as above us in technologic senses, futuristic, well then since where such a young planet, why haven't they found us? if there is, where gonna find them.

And in 1000 years time we will have evolutionized to be able live on mars, well maybe not 1000, but defiantly 100000

I think I'd rather believe what the physicts and scientists believe in that physicsis are universally identical everywhere in the universe. (Physics also doesn't change because of some 'new material' we discovered) On the other hand if you are talking about possible multiple universes that's a different ball of wax.

No, I don't. If life is at all common then we must be pretty late to the scene, what about ~14 billion years for the age of the universe and 4.5 billion or so for Earth. It's been estimated that it would only take about 100,000,000 years to colonize an entire galaxy from a single planet. That's a blink of an eye compared to the age of the universe.

So if life were at all common, it should be everywhere by now.

If Physics and Chemistry are universal, then that would mean what happened on Earth to create and allow Life to live here would happen all over the Universe in mulitple galaxies and Planets.

Given the size of the universe, it would be silly to think that we are alone.

Only if the right gases were in the right place at the right time and went through the same evolution that the gases used to create Earth did (By evolution I'm not talkign about the religion vs evolution debate, I'm talking about time.)

If its the same Universal, then why wouldnt they be in the right places at the right time? Maybe not everywhere, but certainly not only the Earth.

So what are you saying? Are you saying that you don't think that everywhere in the universe there is oxygen and everywhere in the universe there is carbon and everywhere in the universe there is zinc and that sort of stuff? If it is then you would be right and I don't know a scientist alive that would disagree with you as it's pretty straight forward and obvious. But physics is still universal.

Im not saying specifically anything. All Im really trying to say is that since we have dont know everything about Chemistry/Physics, then we really cant say that its Universal because things in the Universe are constantly changing and 13 Billion light years away, its very possible that the physics we know are different from the Physics there.

But, using telescopes, we;ve been able to see the physics occuring and they are much the same as they are here. We've also been able to see the chemical ingredients of other planets and stars using a prism.

No, Satan created all of the other stars to test our faith in hundreds of years old text just like he created fossils to make us think Earth is more than a few thousand years old. If there's one thing God can't stand, it's people using their powers of observation and reason instead of just believing a bunch of absurd-sounding stories in some book that we know is His own truth because the book itself says so.

How did Satan do it? He probably pulled them out of his behind, and believe me when I tell you I know a thing or two about pulling things out of one's behind.

(Yeah, sorry, I'm not trying to turn this into a religion thread, but I just know that religion is going to be the basis of most of the people who answer no, whether they actually give that as their reason or not.)

Yes, but not like you would see in the movies. I would think they would look about the same as us not evil or anything.

I said yes, although I think a maybe would be more appropriate. I think there could be aliens, but whether or not they've actually come here and abducted people and crashed their ships is another story.
