I think that cigarette smoking is horrible, and unfortunately, many people are addicted.
Cigarettes contain mutagenic toxins that are of cancerous properties. The most notorious of these is benzopyrene, which forms the mutagenic toxin benzopyrene diolapoxide when it enters your lungs, causing lung cancer.

Awesomely said. I don't mean to moralize, but did you know that commercial smokes contain a very small amount of Polonium and Radon (two of the most radioactive and dangerous elements on the chart)? If I'm not mistaken I remember reading that every 3000 cigarettes or so you pop a milligram of both directly in the arteries (which is an awful lot).

Everbody knows that they are bad for you but some people just don't care. It's the same with many other things.
