If you are a GS user with a job, how long does it take for you to boot your PC (if applicable) everyday when you get into work? Starting up my PC and loading all the programs I need can take 15 minutes or longer here, for me, depending on what spreadsheets and/or databases I'm working with.

I dont work but the computers at my school are pretty old. Dell Optiplex 150s which were crap even for thier time. (The BIOS dates from November 2001, my Compaq Presario 5000 from November 2001 was way better than these pieces of junk.)

-Intel Celeron 1.4Ghz

-256MB RAM

-ATI Rage 128 (werent these cards ancient by the end of 2001?)

This laptop I'm borrowing takes a while to boot, so we put the computer into hibernation unless the computer needs a system update. So it's more like 1 1/2 minutes for me to get on.

By the time I've booted up, logged in, and opened the applications I need to actually produce something, it can take fifteen minutes.

Physical booting doesn't take long, but loading everything does.

I work at home so its depends on what computer or laptop I use. On my Vista compute it can take up to ten minutes. While all my XPs take about two.

 I love it. I assume by "real work" you mean manual labor. Well, even if you don't have a computer today, you will someday. Even the grease monkey that inspect cars, the flatfoot that patrols the streets, and the guy at the checkout counter have to use computers on the job. It's only a matter of time before we're all plugged in!
