Since some of you clearly don't know which party you personally belong to, let me break it down:
Democrats typically.....
- Support welfare, and affirmative action. Generally oppose all wars, and the one we are in currently. Most Democrats support gay marriage. Democrats believe in the seperation of church and state, and the seperation from church in the schools. There are rarely any non-religious Republicans, but there are plenty of non-religious Democrats. Democrats support higher taxes.
Republicans typically.....
- Don't support affirmative action and welfare too much, want to lower taxes, support many wars, including the one we are in now. They don't support gay marriage... most are religious. They have a huge issue with including people sometimes ("War on Christmas"). Republicans put the 10 commandments in a court house.... which were then taken out by the constitution.

If you break it down further its basically this:
Republicans=conservative: Want less government control over economic issues (privatizing social security, secular healthcare, etc.)but more government control over social issues. Are generally more in favor of family and religious values.
Democrats=liberal: Want more government control over economic issues (government healthcare, education, etc.) and less government control of social issues. (Gays should be allowed all rights, such as marrige and military service)
Statists (who aren't in the poll, I can't even name any statist parties) basically want more government control over everything while libertarians want less government control over everything.
