"...has many verb meanings.." What?[QUOTE="Maddy_K"][QUOTE="cu_be_cie"]
I think I obsess because 'pop' has so many meanings in our language, like it's a type of music and has many verb meanings to, wheras 'soda' just means one thing.
That's why I try to avoid confusion.
I have no speech problems.

"I popped the can open", "pop a cap in his ass" "I'm about to pop you in the mouth" "The guy popped off" All different verb meanings. lol

I hate it.. I made it like 6 years ago and people think just because of my user name that my post don't count. I usually hear stuff like "yea, coming from a guy named "bigblunt" that means a lot". I made this name because of a rap song and I liked the way he said it. Plus I was 13. lol

Well I usually say the name of the drink, but if its all pop in general I usually say 'coke' or 'pop'
[QUOTE="DJ_Lae"]Pop. Soda is so '50s.blackngold29I agree with this. Its TOTALLY the opposite here. Pop reminds me of rock and roll, and drive in diners, and the 50's in general.

TaurusLink has a point.
When I think of pop, I think of poodle skirts and malts with silver cans.

I'm from the south and any kind of carbonated beverage is called a "coke".
cu_be_cie
What if someone wants a Pepsi?
Do you call it a pepsi-coke?
Coke is really just the general name we label all sodas. Like "Pick up a couple of cokes when your at the store" and that could mean getting a Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, or even an actual Coke. Basically, if you want a Pepsi ask for a Pepsi. If you want a Dr. Pepper ask for a Dr. Pepper. If you don't care then ask for a coke. It's really just our way of saying soda.

I second this. Didn't they always call it "soda" in Happy Days?I just call it by what it is...if I want a coke, I say..can I have a coke....if I want a sprite..i'll say can I have a sprite. If no brand is mentioned, I call it a soft drink.
[QUOTE="blooddog28"]i always call any kind of soda drink, coke.Locke562That's like calling tissues "Kleenex", or Tires 'Bridgestones", But worse!
