I like the group. Sometimes I am in the mood for that low-fi mellow sound of theirs. Live in Roseland NYC was an amazing performance. Beth Gibbons is an amazing vocalist - one of my favorites. Yes, their songs can be described as depressing, but I like them nonetheless.

Listen to her sensitivity, rawness and passion that comes across in this song.

What's your favorite track?

Hard to pick one, I would say that "Hunter", "Plastic", "Silence", "The Rip", and "Threads" are all tied.

They are like a brighter version of massive attack. Maybe a bit more instrumental too.

One of the best bands of ALL TIME. That is not me being biased or anything, they are so amazing, all there albums have been criticaly acclaimed masterpieces. They barely made there last album a decade later of there second one, and i just have to say that it is just as amazing. Machine Gun, Magic Doors....Ahh i can go on and on.

recently, I tried listening to portishead after seeing a (rather awesome) music video of theirs directed by Chris cunningham. Unfortunately, i found i really had to try to like them. I think if i'm in the right mood, i could get into it. Like maybe if i were to start smoking pot again :?

It's hovering around the 25th spot on my list, and I still need to hear "Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!" and "That Lucky Old Sun".

Good album, easily my favourite by Portishead, but considering I didn't like Dummy, and only liked bits and pieces from their self-titled, it's not saying a heck of a lot. :P

That said, "Machine Gun" is a pretty amazing song.

No love for "Magic Doors?" that song is fantastic, but all the songs off third are great.
