:o!!!!!! We finally got you into DM!:D I was at a Best Buy the other day wandering around in the music area to pass time. I noticed that they didn't really have anything from any of my favorite bands that I didn't already have or actually wanted (St. Anger syndrome), and, while checking (for personal amusement) to see if they had any Armored Saint, I saw the cover of Amon Amarth's With Oden on Our Side and it really caught my eye-mostly because the lime green color contrasted greatly with the darkness around it and the fact that its cover art is really interesting looking. I thought to myself-"Hey! I've heard of that band before! Darth-Caedus spoke highly of them*, if I remember right...I don't remember what type they are, though...why not find out? It's not like I have anything better to spend my money on..."So I purchased it.
On the way home, I popped it into my truck's CD player and, after ten seconds, I couldn't help but think, "HOLY ****! THIS IS AWESOME!"
Still haven't gotten too far into other death metal, but after I added an Amon Amarth seed on my main pandora station, I've been hearing quite a bit more than normal, and I'm actually appreciating some of it (especially the other Amon Amarth that pops up :P ).
I think that, out of the new non-Amon Amarth stuff that's popped up, I've liked The Forsaken the most...Any recommendations on albums from them...?
*I actually thought that to myself.
They Will Return - Kalmah
Mind Revolution - Skyfire
The Nubian Archer - Arghoslent
Suicide Nation - At the Gates
Death Rock - Horrific
Barbecutioner - Frightmare
Eraser - Hypocrisy
Focus Shift - Dark Tranquility
Pretty much all of this is melodic death metal. That's the best place to start if you want to get into death metal ;)
