Actually, I am not surprised by that, that's how its always been. I am an open musical person who can listen to many different genres and I have found metal is my favourite. I don't particularly hate any bands, but some are obviously more famous than they deserve, which is only annoying when you consider many talented bands get none of the fame they deserve.I'm in the same boat. I was surprised at first with all the metal hate (since this is OT after all :P) but really shouldn't that be expected? Some of it's subgenres were based around trying not to appeal to the mainstream.PerilousWolf

may i ask, why do you hate muse? (i just want to hear your opinion)
Here's three of my top reasons:3. I find them extremely boring, their music is overdramatic and therefore lyrically, it's meaningless. Also, as far as musicians go I can't say I'm too impressed.
2. They don't know how to structure an album, their latest "concept" album was too disjointed for it to be remotely following a concept. It went from an admittedly half-decent love song, to some kind of awful Prince/Aphex Twin sexjam mash-up.
1. They are shameless Radiohead rip-offs. to the point that when asked what he thought about Muse and Coldplay sounding "a bit" like them, Thom Yorke ranted, in essence, about his hard work and sound being stolen by other bands, and being made shallow and meaningless.
At least he used to be almost godly...until he had so many damn plastic surgeries and that infamous rape trial episode. This is all that came to mind.Pvt_r3d
How can no one have posted this yet

Because this doesn't even count as music. IT COUNTS AS BS INSIDE BS IN THE MIDDLE OF A DESERT MADE OF MOTHER****ING BS!!!

After listening to several Radihead songs and every song Muse has have made, they have quite a lot of originality. I would not consider them radiohead rip-offs at all. The energy of their music is what i like about them, and in my opinion none of their songs have been lyrically meaningless. They are my favorite band but they are different enough to where i can see why some people don't like them.

But do their lyrics have themes applicable to your life? If so, you must have led a lot of rebellions and defeated a lot of evil space creatures while clutching your sweetheart close. :|
Its all opinions really, but you find their music energetic? I find it fairly flat to be honest. Doesn't move me one bit.
And in lieu of posting any pictures, I will say that I absolutely hate the vast majority of metal and pop-punk.

I like them and I have a huge amount of respect for the NWOBHM bands but I have to partly disagree. Today's stuff isn't BASED on them. It's usually influenced by the style, sound, and musical themes associated with the older bands. There has to be some good new bands that haven't heard of these older bands before.

Nevermore is still one of the many bands of your recommendations I have yet to check out :P. I bought a Falconer and a Hammerfall album, though, and I'm probably going to be buying a few more by other artists soon (Angra, Stratovarius, Altaria). I'm going to a play that one of my friends is acting in soon, but I'm going to start looking at the many, many other recommendations after that :P.
