It is. I love Xubuntu.I was actually quite impressed when I put it on my desktop with windows XP on it as well. I only had about 2 gigs left and it was lightning fast.
I erased everything and put Kubuntu on it and im not so happy.

Open up a terminal and type sudo apt-get install xfce. Then you can choose either xfce or KDE when you log in.[QUOTE="H8sMikeMoore"][QUOTE="famicommander"][QUOTE="H8sMikeMoore"]GNOME is nice, but I prefer functionality to eye candy. I got ubuntu and its working perfectly but its a pain to take advangtage of. I want the kool effects (i have a intel graphic chipset 965), I have everything else that is needed but to enable it, its a pain. There is a way to get it to work with intel, i read it online but jeez, its to much thats needed to be done to hook up ubuntu.

freedom usually makes things harder.
plus the download of ubuntu would be so much bigger if it included everything and all the drivers

cool, I think you're talking about the compiz configure?
the best way to figure everything out is to just play with it and ask questions. I havent done much with it other than set up the cube thing.
check out ubuntuforums.org though theyre real helpful. and if you got xchat or IRC goto the ubuntu server.

yea, thanks. Im trying to get the cube thing but first i have to enable the visuals. Actually, im on ubuntu right now. Still trying to get the sound to work,
so i installed the xbl to enable the visuals for the cube effects and such and it really slowed down everything so I had to uninstall it. Ive used over 2gb of RAM and it gave me trouble. Just lettin u kno.Tjeremiah1988really? Compz Fusion takes up very little RAM for me
