You can pray in school... it just can't be led by teachers/faculty. If it is led by faculty it could be interpretted as catering to one religion over the other. Students can organize prayers with teachers watching over them... it's just that teachers can't lead the prayer...
Seriously, this whole Atheism vs. Christianity/Organized religion bullcrap has to freaking stop.
I also want to add one last thing...
Religion is a private matter something which should only carry weight if you are in your house or place of worship. If you have to pray, fine. Do it where no one can here you pray, preferably inside your head. Now, if you have specific practices for worshipping like Muslims talk to school administrators/staff and see if you can be accomodated outside of the classroom (in the hallway, for example) and you can pray there. That is only if you have to pray at certain times and in a 'distracting' fashion.
So this way at say 12 o'clock Christians will just stand up in the middle of class and start praying. Afterall, the school can't suspend 85% of its students, and besides it's difficult to suspend someone for praying. And this avoids all the political bickering among the school authorities.whipassmt
A. We have a seperation of church and state for a reason
B. 85% of americans don't even pray, much less in public, at school.

We don't have separation of church and state in Connecticut, not anymore. just google "Connecticut- "plan B" compromise law.Seriously, this whole Atheism vs. Christianity/Organized religion bullcrap has to freaking stop.

[QUOTE="jointed"]That's stupid. I suggest you copy France's secular solution instead.The_Ish
That totally worked out well for them, especially considering France is such a paragon of religious tolerance and harmony.
That's not because they have a religious Wednesday though...
dream solution- abolish religion
logical situation- Religion is a personal thing, if the students want to pray, they can do it on their own itme.

my thoughts too...
We don't have separation of church and state in Connecticut, not anymore. just google "Connecticut- "plan B" compromise law.whipassmtThat is not a violation of the separation doctrine; hospitals are generally private firms.
[QUOTE="inyourface_12"]why cant the kids pray at school, its not like it affects the atheist kidsThe_Ish
no one is stopping them, they can pray, so as long as the teachers or faculty don't lead them, and it does not disrupt school functioning
Or in the case of a Muslim student they can talk to the faculty and see if they can have an accomadation to step outside of the classroom and pray.[QUOTE="whipassmt"] We don't have separation of church and state in Connecticut, not anymore. just google "Connecticut- "plan B" compromise law.CptJSparrowThat is not a violation of the separation doctrine; hospitals are generally private firms. Yeah well too bad this law also affects hospitals that are run by the Catholic church. If i were the bishops i would order the staff to disobey the unjust law, i mean what's the state gonna do shut down the hospitals because they won't give out abortafacient "emergency contraceptives" (since when is pregnancy an emergency, and these pills are more like abortions than contraceptives because fertilization has already taken place).
Okay well if the school allowed it Atheists would whine and cry, and since the schools don't allow it Christians get angry and try to get the school to allow it. My plan is to bypass the school and town officials. Christian parents will all meet and agree on a certain time and then tell their children to start praying at a certain time. So this way at say 12 o'clock Christians will just stand up in the middle of class and start praying. If you're supposed to be paying attention, getting up and saying Hail Maries is a stupid thing to do and if the school allowed it, there'd be a lawsuit. This bypasses nothing.

But Church and State aren't seperate. Only 30% of Americans said that they'd elect an athiest.

everyone does know that separation of church and state was originally intended to keep the STATE out of the CHURCH....right?

I could have sworn that it was put in place to keep the government secular instead of theocratic.well, considering the foundation of America was people looking for religious freedom, and the founding fathers and principles of our country were based off Christianity, I think they were more concerned with government intruding on their faith
quite the opposite nowadays:?

They left because they were being persecuted. Separation of Church and State came with the colonists who wanted to seperate themselves from England (No taxation without representation) but they formed the new government as a, hopefully, secular (without religious, at that time Christian, meaning) government.Seriously, this whole Atheism vs. Christianity/Organized religion bullcrap has to freaking stop.
I also want to add one last thing...
