If I'm able, then I would like to home school my children, but if not, then I would send them to a private school. The last place I would like to send them is a public school.

Parochial a good private or home schooling as an alternative if there is none available.
I survived public school for middle and High School but by the time I got there I had to sit on my hands for three years before the public system caught up to what I had already learned.:P
That was preferable to skipping grades and moving ahead though....I saw how the guys that did that fared and it was bad enough being a geek or "brainiac" without also being younger than everyone else :?
From where I live, public, because the only private school I know of where I live is too far away for me to consider it.
I would want my kids to have a fun time at school and also learn a lot. And public schooling is the best choice for that. You meet a lot of people and make friends and have the time of your life, and where I live the schools are some of the best in the country. Home schooling your kids is just confining them which I think is terrible, and private school don't let the kids express themselves. If my kids are required to wear anything to school then hell they are not going, let them express themselves and wear whatever they want. That is just my viewing on all of this.
My children would go to private. They dont need to be in the horrible environment public schools have. Those schools are full of smokers and killers.
One of the most ignorant statements I've seen on OT, unless it's a joke :PPublic is the only way to go if you don't want your kids to become weird.

If I ever do have kids I would send them to private school, to the same school where I went, my father went, and my grandfather went. It is a tradition it seems.
Probably public Catholic and I would make sure their education is up to what I think is best. I would never homeschool them because I don't beleive homeschooling is a good thing for the kid.
The public school, and the education system in general, is a joke. They don't teach kids -- they condition children to become docile, workers that wont ask questions and will find love in working instead of living. People are being brought up into slavery, and they are loving it. They think hardwork is something to be proud of. So what if I didn't get to see the Sistine Chapel or Le Louvre? So what? I worked my arse off for 30 years in a factory -- I'm a hardworking citizen, and I should be proud of that. That's such a sad state of mind. Why on Earth would you waste your life on Earth? And it's really sad how people reinforce this hideous sentiment, which only continues to further the hole that we're digging for ourselves. The corporations like it this way though.
Continuing on, we're addicted to money and, the only way to get money, is by working. We think we need all these "things". We need cable. We need game consoles. We need music players. We need phones. We need all these useless things, and they offer but very little actual "value". And by value, I refer only to happiness. It's incredibly shallow to be base happiness on how well you're living and what material possessions you have. Whatever happened to living simply? Whatever happened to enjoying the life you live and sharing that love with others? Real happiness is from companionship and love.
Sadly, our education system would rather separate people, give them ritalin, and indoctrinate meaningless values into our youth than support things that would expand creativity, philosophy, and social interactions. In my school, people can't even express affection, much less give each other a hug. Many schools are like this, some of them even worse. Many schools have completely wiped out music programs in favor of science and math classes.
The education system is an institution that seeks to reap in profits for the wealthy and the powerful.
Well, Homeschooling is a big no, as I'd hate for them to miss out on all the social interaction that they'd get in an actual school. Private isn't a bad idea, but I think you can get pretty much the same level of education in a public school if you take the right classes.
If I had kids I would let him got to a public school depending on the area. I wouldn't want my kids going home schooling because it would be hard for him/her to make friends or have a social life.

It might be more difficult finding friends when you're not in an environment where there are a lot of other children, but that doesn't mean your kid has to grow up without friends or very few friends. Getting your kid involved in clubs, music organizations, possibly even sports would give your child the opportunity to meet new people and make friends.
The public school system is very decentralized (it's become more centralized in recent years, but it still is incredibly decentralized) so saying that the public school system and the education system in general is a joke is a very weak induction. I can't speak for yourself but I got a great education from the public school system. The public school, and the education system in general, is a joke. And cable, game consoles (which is an odd thing to bring up considering this is a gaming website) music players, and phones all have actual value. Cable gives you access to news, so it keeps you informed. It gives you access to quality TV shows and movies, so it gives you access to art. Game consoles give you access to great stories and just overall fun; since when has fun not been valuable? Music players give you access to music, so it gives you access to art, similar to cable. And phones are a form of communication, and communication is necessary for any society to function, so it also has value.
