I am a private school kid. There is much better hands on learning here than in a class of 200. I am glad that my whole high school is 219 kids. Much better environmentOblivionfan10

Public. I wouldn't know how to home school, and I'm really not too familiar with private schools. The private schools where I live are almost identical to the public schools, except they have religion cIasses.

Anything but homeschool. Homeschooling is what you do to your kid when you want them to be completely unaware of how to properly socialize with peers.

I've been in both private and public schools before. To be honest I didn't really ever notice much of a difference. So in the interest of saving tens of thousands of dollars every year, I'd say public school.

You can learn social skills just as well in a private school...

Home/online school is only something I will let my children do in their teenage years when they can make the decision to be responsible and get it done. Otherwise, public school. I won't be having my kid go to any school that tells them how to dress.

*sigh* Why do so many people act like building social skills is such a challenging thing that requires soooo much work? You don't have to go to a building with hundreds of kids around your age 5 times a week for 7-8 hours a day to learn how to act normal.

You can learn social skills anywhere... Yes, including homeschooling.
But private schools come with tuition and forced religious studies.

Forced religious studies? Dude, it's a private school, you as the parent are in charge as opposed to the government.

... You didn't go to private school I assume Private school is amazing and I have no regrets. I'm glad my parents put me into it. The opportunities I have are amazing and they go out of their way to help us get into the university we want. We have every graduate go to university here, it's amazing and there is so much to do, extra-cirricular, academic, arts, fitness, it's great. We all develop social skills and the cost is well within a lot of people's means. I hate the rules, but I like the school.

And I've never never never never never had to do religious studies, it's not even offered. It's worth the price of admission alone to be able to have an education you control.

Not all of them do. For example, the private school I went to was completely secular.

This couldn't be farther from the truth. Most of the kids in my public high school were middle class and very well behaved.

Well first and foremost education starts at the home so while my child won't be homeschooled in the traditional sense but will get some serious education. But whatever school I feel will be best for him whether it be public or private.

Not really... Only if they are sheltered from the outside world. I do agree that there is a higher probability however.

Come on you know the local privates are not like us. ;)

It depends. Where I live right now if you are in the gifted program the public schools are way better than the private schools. Although in a lot of places I would probably send my kid to private school.

Hm, I remember there being some kind of naming confusion - for example, what we call private schools in Australia are known as public schools in the UK? Something like that, anyway.

In any case, private schools here tend to produce the highest ENTER scores into universities, so they seem like the best way to go.

*edit* Plus, I only ever hear bad things about public schools - about them being 'rough', drug-filled, etc.

My daughter will be educated in public schools :D

The public schools in my district are rated A+ (part of the reason I bought a house there :) ) and I want my daughter to socialize with a diverse group of kids.

Private most likely. There they work for their money while many public school teachers strive for mediocrity

I went to a small private school, there is no wayI would have my children do the same. I don't have any personal experiences with homeschooling, but it seems just as problematic when it comes to social development. Public, all the way.

public.. unless there is a private school that is not religious in any way. i would never put my kid into a religious school. i just would never do that to my kid. doing so really doesnt give him/her much of a choice, as its just a kid! also, one tend to find more normal people in public schools, which would help form my kids personality into the better. i go to a private school.. luckily i am above the people here and havent been "affected" (much). my kid, however, might not be as "strong" as me, and id never forgive myself if he/she became like the people here.. never!

Private School, not even a question. I went to Public School, my sister private, and though theres nothing wrong with public school, I couldn't believe the quality of education she was getting, as well as opportunities that came with going to a private school.

I'm home schooled, I'll have my associate's degree at the age of 18, and I have plenty of friends and a job (I'm 16). I think I would start my kids out in a public school, and depending on how it went I may home school them.

I will say it doesnt matter where your kids go so long as you don't get involved public, private, whatever your kids future depends on you being willing to get involved with their education and life in general.

Public school, but if they really don't want to go there then I'd just home school them, as long as they're hardcore gamers I won't care :P.
