"Prime Minister Vladimir Putin led the pack in the first report of results announced by the Russian Central
Electoral Commission seconds after polls closed in the country's presidential election.

He appeared before a crowd of around 100,000 supporters at a square near the Kremlin on Sunday evening to celebrate his victory.

Results from polling stations in the Far East on Sunday gave Putin a comfortable lead over his closest rivals.

"61.81 per cent is for candidate Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin," Vladimir Churov, chairperson of the electoral body, announced.

Exit polls showed that Putin will win with a bigmajority. Putin won 58.3 per cent of the vote according to an exit poll from the state-controlled VTsIOM research group, and 59.3 per cent in a survey by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), effectively ruling out a second round of voting."

What do you think?

That's BS, the poll was rigged. No way Putin could've won another election. There were protests in Moscow because of him after the Arab Spring.

I honestly don't know what to think. While Putin probably is corrupt, I'm sure the opposition is just as corrupt. But yeah, hardly a surprising result.

the elections were fairer than it was ever in america, america has a 2 party system where parties need to win in a whole state in the presidental elections, communist got 17%, national liberals got 7%, social democrats 3% and the owner of the new jersey jets got 7% Ron Paul has higher chance to win in russia than in america.

First...it's more fair. Second....the US uses an electoral college. Not popular vote. There was a reason for that when the country was new. Third...what does the amount of parties matter. Fourth...there are more than two parties. FYI.

There are more than two parties but what did the other parties ever got?? Libertarian, third way, greens, reformer they all failed. The only elections where a third party was close was in 1992 probably the last fair elections in america before the media became a total tool for both parties. The reformer of ross had a decent chance and bush also almost lost to pat buchanan who had a complete different view. Since then america became a defacto dictatorship controlled by oligarchs and the outdated election system. Ron Paul has to run as republican to have any chance but he loses many left voters and the media is destroying him. If he runs as independent he has to win in whole states, his votes will be divided between romney and obama. The media wont cover him up and he would have to pay his campaign all by him self. America has the worst election system ever.

I agree with this, that voting system promotes basically a two party exclusive system.

Surveys said he was going to win, ext polls give numbers that are pretty damn similar to the official results, but I'm still gonna say it was all a massive fraud because my TV set said I shouldn't like the guy.

Usually I would agree with you, but there wouldn't be massive reports of fraud from Russian organizations, not American or UN or NATO, if there wasn't something up.

Actually, that's not the case. Local organizations have been known to scream BAD GUY IS IN OUR BALLOTS, STEALING OUR ELECTCHUNS in other countries because they expect those screams to lead to riots that could debilitate the reelected government. It happened and was successful in Ukraine, and it happened but failed in Nicaragua, Mexico and Venezuela.

Truth of the matter is that, when it comes to relatively modern and civilized elections (keyword being RELATIVELY, meaning that it doesn't even have to be the best election system ever, just barely mediocre should be enough), you can't really steal millions and millions of votes. You can win a local thing here and there, like the Mayor of a small town, and you can even do some weird stuff when the national election is abnormally close (less than 0.5% and whatnot) but you can't just steal millions and millions of votes. It just doesn't happen anywhere in the Western world except maybe Haiti. Even if Putin's party cheated here and there (tiny rural towns tend to be hard to control when it comes to stuff like that), it made little difference, because he was still going to win by a landslide.

I love how some people call out Russia on election fraud but ignore election fraud here and label those who speak out against it as conspiracy theorists.Dy_WarriorsXoXo
I don't care who wins the Republican nomination, so I'm not to interested in election fraud here. However, if there is some during the presidental elections, that would be a different story.

Of course he still would of won without fraud, but not by this much. Also, you'd be surprised with how much the Russian government could get with. I once read a book written by an ex-Russian soldier (he is a journalist now) and the things the military got away with during the war was astounding and not even the population realized many things that were going on.

That's the kind of idea that is fundamentally useless when it's not accompanied by a proper -and preferably exhaustive- quantitative analysis. And, trust me on this one, those Russian organizations you mentioned will not provide anything remotely close to that.

Lets just say.... that if Putin and a dozen or so fellow heads of state were locked in a room with one gun sitting on a table in the middle. My bets would be on Putin being the last man standing.

Russia is pretty much going to be run by a one party organization, something like the Communist party before. The whole election thing seems to be a fraud to disguise what is really going on.
