What WMDs.....GettingTired
That made me lol.

Prove all this with links, and I'll congratulate you.first of all, bush wasn't the only one who thought there were WMD's, there were others (like his military advisors for exampple). secondly, saddam told the US government (in almost a taunting sort of way, like he was bragging) that he had WMD's and that he threatened to use them against us. I would consider this a threat to national security as well as a perfectly good reason for going into iraq.
another thing, he was killing many of his own people. many of those people were people who spoke out against the government (like activists and political oponents). it was almost a genocide in iraq.
btw, i meant to say terrorists, not just taliban.

I did something similar when mine was complaining about capitalism and how business are going from 420 mil to 380 mil and they are complaining about it and how she thinks that its stupid. I swear she is a communist or at least a hardcore socialist >_____>freek666Complete capitalism is as flawed as complete communism/socialism.. Luckily places like the United States have a mix, a capitalism with some socialist programs and regulations that are a must to have to keep our country stable.
I love this new trend of teachers changing the history they teach to meet their political views. I had a teacher in my environmental science class that taught nothing of the subject and just bashed republicans and bush all day, every class. :roll:Pirate700
Sounds like my math teacher from 5th-8th grade, left-wing ranting with some math mixed in.
[QUOTE="Ace_WondersX"]taliban was in afganistan... you failDecko5werent they funding them though U.S gave em 3 billiion dollers around 1990, guess who funded who?
Nope i agree with your teacherwe were talking about the iraq war and she started saying the only reason we were in iraq was for the iraqi oil. she left out the other reasons. I pointed out that we went in there to take out saddam, find his wmds (because he was practically bragging to us that he had nukes and he threatened to use these weapons against us), and stop the taliban from killing innocent bystanders. she responded with a "umm... yeah.. uhh... oh dear... i... i lost my train of thought... ill get back to you on that... umm yeah..." I mumble "...yeah, i didnt think so..." causing the guy sitting next to me to laugh. it was pretty funny. im going to enjoy my class.

So you basically said EXACTLY what the Bush administration had been saying for the last 6 years? Wow, yeah...you really "pwned" her.jointedsurely you aren't implying that the Bush administration, that is the government (the MAN), would lie to us? :(
Ha, nice. But you have to admit. Part of the reason is for their oil, dude. Considering they have oil and... you know, we don't? Off-topic, but once, I wrote down the "War has Changed" speech by Old Snake at the beginning of MGS4 and turned it in for an extra credit thing in English... I had to say this was about war in the future, though, because much of it didn't apply today. I got full credit.GodofBigMacsIts not just for oil its for imperialism.. We are putting puppets into government over there that are easily manipulated by the United States.. While at the same time the contractors that are ripping of the American people with overcharging for inadaquate services are also permantely rooting their companies into the infastructure of Iraq... I hope this is not the truth of it, but it appears to be just that.. So expect in a few years or a decade to see a overthrowing of the government.. Just like with Iran.. The United States and Great britain are directly responsibile to Iran's current government and hatred towards the United States.. We overthrew the democratically elected president of Iran in 1953, and installed the brutal and corrupt dictator, The Shah into power.. Its because we saw him as a "weak" president that would lose control to the communists.. This war is just that, the imperialist excuse under pretexts of claimed WMD's and a war against islamic fundamentalism.. Much like the cold war policies.

I just fail to see why a teacher would make such a claim and then fail to respond when she's presented with the official story as if she's never heard about it.
[QUOTE="Dark-Sithious"]I think some vague connections were mentioned before the war in Iraq was initiated. At least here in Norway, I heard on the news that Saddam had connections with Taliban
jehuty12
About the only connection is that they are both in the middle east and both Muslim.
That's not what was told in the media at the time, I'm sure Americans were fed with the same bs
... But the US gave up its search for WMD's in Iraq in 2005.Both you and your history teacher fail.-Misanthropic-

Still, just the way she was talking about it annoyed me.
I never really vocally correct my teachers/professors, I just subtly mock them in my papers.fidosimSmart man, I dont think I could be able to do that.
But I did write an entire paragraph (around half a page) on a death metal song in my English exam essay and ended up with 91% :P

Read a history book on the middle east from 1850 to 1970s.. What the United States did was quite simlar to what they were doing.. The west have been manipulating the Middle East for about two centuries now.. Make no mistake the Middle East to the west has always been about poltiical stability to exploit the economics.. It was like that for the Ottoman Empire, It was like that for Iran/Persia.. When they could not directly control it, they either put into power a puppet government/leader or made the nation extremely dependent on the western powers either through military or finances. In the end I have seen no big changes in the United States policy or western policy over there.. They do not care for the people in the region what so ever.. And the rooting of foriegn businesses into infastructure is EXACTLY what forced the Ottoman Empire into bankruptcy in the late 1800s, controling the economy, can controlt he development of the nation.. Its just another form of control placed upon them.. And I am quite sure I don't need a claim for the last one, its relatively common knownledge that Mosadaq (the democratically elected president) was overthrown in 1953 by CIA and MI6. Hell one of the main reasons why they felt they should do it is because he kicked out the British Oil Company that controled 100% of Iran's oil supply..
