I don't know if I'm getting beyond bond in my ol' age (See: Profile) but I went to see Quantum of Solace yesterday and was really disappointed by it.

The camera was poor and it was completely over-edited. You couldn't see what was happening in the fight scenes.

The story was also rather uninteresting and convoluted. Oh and the baddie was forgettable. He is a good actor - I saw him in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - just not in this movie. He was miscast. He look far too weedy and small to be a Bond villain.

The other actors were fine though. Daniel Craig was intense even though he didn't have any witty one liners this time.

Thankfully this director is reported to not be returning. Bring back Martin Campbell. (Golden Eye and Casino Royale).

They do seem to have a serious case of Bourne envy. I thought the film was ok. It mainly missed my expectations because it isn't a huge facelift for the franchise like Casino Royale was.

It was a good action movie, but thats all it was. There was no story or anything really advancing the plot. Anyone else notice how they had a chase for everything?
Cars, Boats, On Foot, Planes, Bikes etc etc

The villian was forgetable, and the movie was short. Other than that, pretty good.

Yup crappy villian, average bond girl, bad editing and confusing plot. I was disappointed but I still enjoyed it overall.

I knew it was going to be horrible when I first heard the song they picked for the intro and no famous "bond-shoots-blood comes down" scene at the beginning. It was strange and disappointing. Though, I did like the opening scene with the car chase.

All the reasons I disliked this movie in list form:

Didn't play the Bond theme ONCE (credits don't count)

Story was uninteresting

No bond car

No gadgets

They didn't have a traditional "Bond girl"

No clip where he walks across the screen and shoots

No witty puns

Couldn't tell what was happening in some action scenes

No Moneypenny

He never says "The name is Bond, James Bond"

Basically they took out all the things that made Bond movies different from your standard action flick. Oh, and can someone tell me what the hell the Quantum Of Solace was???

I like it, reminded me of one of the most underrated Bond films License To Kill. It didn't need all the gadgets and one liners, but it was still really good. Not as good as Casino Royale, but still a fun ride.

She wasn't ugly but she also had no personality or intellect. I like Vesper from Casino Royale so much because she was smart and witty as well as being hot as hell.

It certainly wasn't the best Bond, but I thought it was a pretty decent installment to the series.

Agreed, after Die Another Day no one should be complaining about the lack of gadgets (invisible car)...... or one liners (I miss your sparkling personality)......... or bond girls (Jinx...)....... or non-traditional villian (some British guy is actually North Korean and has mech suit?). Quantum of Solace isnt as good as Casino Royal but its way up there in the bond movies.

If you want the cheesy bond gimicks, go watch Roger Moore fight the python in moonraker because it has a "crush" on him (get it a crush, lol its funny because pythons like to crush things)

I certainly don't want cheesey gimmicks if you are referring to me, or gadgets or whatever. I wanted it to be like Casino Royale and have a story and decent editing. I wanted a movie!!
