If you were born and raised in a situation where you were never introduced to christianity (like if you were born in Iran, or alone on a desert island), how would you come to believe in God?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
In my religion, you don't get baptized at birth, you get baptized when you're in your teens after you go to lots of bible studies and they test you on what you've learned. Also, that's why people convert, they have a choice.
Paper_Knife: So you could do as many immoral things as you like, never ask Jesus for forgivenss, and still get into heaven? Well, you're going to be hanging out with a lot of bad people after you die.
ReverseCycology, I'm talking about people that are never introduced to christianity. How would they ever have the choice if they never know about it?

Congrats friend! You've just found one of the many, many holes in the christian faith! Find one thousand and get a free prize!
Don't think God is gonna hold it against you, it was something that couldn't be helped. Plus i think it says somewhere in the Bible that rightous beleivers of different Gods in parts of the world where they havent heard christianity, are good in God's book. But to be honest this is just pure what i think. 123625Right, so the people that are killing our American troops in Iraq right now--they're going to be chillin with said troops when they get into heaven? Sounds like it's a bit messy up there.
[QUOTE="8drunkengods"]Well, you'd prolly be taught about allah and never even think about the christian god... I'm a pastafarian. We know our s**t.SooshyRight, so would you go to hell for believing in the wrong God?
There is no answer, it's a broken system.

[QUOTE="fidosim"]The people on this forum sure have a lot of questions for Christians. If you really wanted to know, you would've asked a Pastor. These threads are purposely inflammatory and should be locked.SooshyMaybe I'm just in the mood to debate? :)

It may be pointless for you, but it isn't for me. It's no more pointless than you spending time reading these forums. People like having discussions about topics they care about. It doesn't matter if it goes in circles and we don't get anywhere. It's fun. I'm not saying Catholic Priests are molesters, genius. I'm saying people generally only make that stereotype about them because of a few incidents a few years ago.

I'm a Christian myself but I have to be honest, it wasn't a few incidents, in Mexico last year there were over 300 child abuse cases committed by clergy.

I guarantee you it doesn't. There's the verse that says "No one can come to the Father except through Me". So I think they go to hell actually. But I don't think God would allow people to be unreached.

Kinda unfair then.
Maybe some missionary will come and tell me about God or I will never know about Him. But God won't take it against me since there was nothing I could do.
I don't understand how some Christians can say only people who believe in God can go to heaven because that contradicts God's merciful nature.

Are they following what the Bible say? Obviously not so they are crappy priests. The catholic church are responsible for almost all of the skelteons in the closet of Christianity.
If you believed in God through another religion, isn't it a different God? That's a hell sentence.Believe in God through another religion? BTW in Iran there are Christians.

Also, if Wikipedia is to be believed, the christian population in Iran shares a 2% portion with seven other religions, so it might as well be non-existant.

What are you talking about? There's tribes in Africa with absolutely no contact with the outside world, let alone a thorough knowledge of Christianity and its tenets.
Besides, even if people DO hear the gospel, some reject it do to cultural and social norms where they live or because it simply doesn't FEEL right to them. Is God going to eternally fault someone for HOW he created and WHERE he placed them in the world?

Thats all up to God. He is a merciful God, so I don't think he would punish someone (hell) for not believing in him, when they never heard of him. I don't know how it works in this situation though. Maybe your given a choice when your dead?. Not sure.
So you can commit immoral acts your entire life and still get into heaven.[QUOTE="123625"][QUOTE="battlefront23"][QUOTE="123625"]Don't think God is gonna hold it against you, it was something that couldn't be helped. Here's a quote from the Bible you will find interesting:
" I am everywhere. Look under a stone and you shall find me. God is not bound in a building of stone. God is everywhere."
Translation: You can find God anywhere not just through Christianity. And the passage you reference above I think The Prince of Peace meant that you can only go to heaven through goodness, i.e Jesus Christ. I don't think Jesus would send someone to hell for not being Christian.

What I mean is that to believe in God can mean to believe in goodness. It doesn't matter if they are atheists, Hindus or Buhddists if you do good things God will reward you. And Muslims, Christians and Jews all believe in the same God.
Also, if Wikipedia is to be believed, the christian population in Iran shares a 2% portion with seven other religions, so it might as well be non-existant.
Wait a minute when you say "That's a hell of a sentance" do you mean they will go to hell for being non-christians? People like you is why a lot of people have a low view of Christians.
felix,
What source are you getting this from? According to the christian religion, you go to hell if you don't believe if the correct God. Also, I say that "hell sentence" part because that's what the christian religion says.
Sooshy
Whose to decide whose the "correct God". You're very intolerant for someone who claims to be a Christian. The source is The Bible, The Word of God. How do we know Moses didn't just make the ten commandments himself and make up the God part? Moses was a bloodthirsty warlord and shouldn't be considered a Prophet.
