if you have to go that much out of the way to include god, then whats the point of believing in him at all?

to clarify, I don't believe in god. I'm simply saying that if there was a god, the reason he dictated genesis the way he did is because otherwise nobody would believe him. :P

Be a deist...belief in a god that created everything and then left it to it's own devices :)Eragon_11

I'd want to know what god's up to now... And why god did it in the first place?

If god is looking on and observing all the tragedy and suffering going on in the world, (as it has done ever since the time the bible was collated), then that would surely make god evil. So why even bother believing in a benign, yet malevalent, god?

While science can prove so much, there are some things that cannot be explained..sometimes having an irrational answer i.e god, is a little way of setting your mind at ease.

Ooh, sounds mysterious, irrational answers - do go on...

My mind rests easy, but my interest would be to explore and try and understand objectively so I can explain.

people of relgion seem to think that everything on a human beings body is perfectly the same, e.g. feet size, breat size, hand size etc where usually there is always something bigger or smaller, so hmmmmm...god the perfect creator?

Mr_sprinkles

If the bible is the word of god, the creation story is how it is because if god had talked about the big bang and evolution the people would've said god is crazy.

On the contrary. The Bible could have said anything and you'd still hail it the same either way because you'd not have known any different. Just like you don't know any different now,

See what I'm getting at?

genesis chapter 1:"And god did cause the infinatly dense ball of matter to explode, and fill the blackness with the element hydrogen. Gravity did cause this matter to gather, and the gase did combust to form heavier elements. As these heavenly bodies did collapse unto themselves, this material was expelled, and did form the earth, and many other objects in the sky..."

chapter 2: "and god did create a single celled organism from the chemicals of the earth. he did give this, the first creature, the ability to reproduce, and mutate at a genetic level..." etc etc.

What do you mean? what is Hydrogen? element? what are these things? this person does not speak for god! he lies!

You gotta remember god didn't say any of these things as a booming voice in the sky to all the people on the earth, he told one person, and that person hadto tell everyone else.

..........firstly, why not exsplain it a simpler way! you can say god made the earth...but you cant say he then put cows and snakes down there, it should have said "and god made simple creatures, that fought and betterd them selfs." and if ur saying that people wouldet have belived it, then ur saying it NEEDED to be popular, and that just shows u what all religion is about

(sorry about any bad spelling)

Would everyone have believed it? Did Jesus even know? Was it important to even say? Was it edited out of the bible by the church? Who knows? Heck, Jesus could have been a scitzophrenic for all we know. Pardon my spelling.

Nisstyre_56

Are you saying that Jesus may have LIED to his disciples? :o or that he didn't know everything? :o

OR he was just a nut. You know whats sad? This...This is my first 50+ Post topic!

Assuming both god and the bible are real then yes, he did create evolution.  The great flood, presumably, wiped out all life on earth that wasn't on the Ark.  The bible states the arks dimensions exactly so in order for the animals that were on the ark to have diversified into the life that has spread today then god would of had to create evolution.

that is of course assuming god is real.
