Wow, has anyone here even thought about why the US would even attack Russia? The ends wouldn't justify the means in attacking them. It wouldn't be worth it.

And the difference between US putting up a defense shield and Russia putting one up in Mexico is that we have hostile enemies where we erected out system. There are no hostile enemies or threats coming from anywhere around Mexico. Its only purpose would be to attack the US.

So you can't compare the two. Russia has proven itself to be hostile, so we and Poland are taking measures to protect ourselves from Russia. Poland knows it doesn't want to associate with Russia, just as Georgia is trying to escape Russia grip as well.

Russia are the aggressors, not the US.

Im pretty sure both Shields being built are not made specifically to protect against Russia, i dont think that was ever said to be the plan. Not to mention now that Russia made this threat, is more of a reason to build one, because apparently they are willing to us nukes, making them a huge threat.

I really dont blame Russia at all, america is a country that cannot be trusted in the slightest and will do whatever they want to suit their own selfish needs.

I hope Russia does make a stand against them, its bout time someone did.

the missile defense shield was proposed 2 years ago when relations with iran were heating up and relations with russia were still decent. i have no doubt that the timing that the deal was set was no coincidence as the deal was set just days after russia invaded georgia. this, however, does NOT change the purpose of the proposed shield which is to shoot down missiles from rouge states such as iran. i must also note that it has been stated many times that the US will give russia partial access to the shield stationed in poland.

this, unlike many of you have said is NOT, like the cuban missile crisis, especially in its later stages. frankly i'm quite puzzled how one could say such events are similar. during the later stages of the crisis soviet nuclear missiles were in cuba and aimed at the US. ok so on one hand we have nukes aimed at the US from russia and on the other hand we have anti missile systems built by the US in poland. one for offense, one for defense. can someone please explain to me how this is similar? also was there any plan for the USSR to allow the US partial access to their nuclear missile sites?

Russia is just scared, and are scary. Anyone with nukes is a threat, and they just want to protect themselves from other countries with nukes.

I just hope they acually follow whatever they signed. Or else there definately could be some tension, which may or may not lead to trouble.

Poland is allowed to ally with whoever they want really, its not Russia's job to decide who they ally with. Although I don't think America should go and build defence missles there. I also don't see why thats so bad, if they are for defence, and you don't plan to ever again go on the offence(as that would lead to a nuclear war and the death of everyone), then what is the problem?diped

Poland has a very good offer going to them...From money, to US military trainning, etc. But you are right, its not COMPLETELY America's fault, but its mostly their.
