My little sister asked me how long it took to get to the point when I didnt have to look at the keyboard anymore, I honestly dont remember. Can any of you say exactly when it was that you stopped sucking at typing?

I still prefer to glance at the keyboard, its easier. The only improvements I have made have been slow.My little sister asked me how long it took to get to the point when I didnt have to look at the keyboard anymore, I honestly dont remember. Sucking? The entirety of the 90's was me playing my beloved edutainment games on PC which consisted of typing games. Typing arcade, basketball typing, cowboy shooting-type typing, and then there was the typing at school. And then there was me typing my dad's reports while sitting in his office chair as his way of teaching me discipline and perseverance and most importantly, typing.
I prefer the abc keyboard...
well i kinda learned my junior year in HS, but i still had to look at the keyboard. id say it was at the end of senior year and during the summer where i pretty much learned the keys. though i still look at the keyboard for certain letters:P
Those typing games sucked. I hated them so much. I think I got most proficient when I started playing Starcraft when I was a kid. No voice chat, and I'd be talking to like four friends in different games and channels using the whisper command. Just so much typing involved it would take way too long to hunt and peck.
That and writing since I was in sixth grade. I'm so lazy these days the only writing I want to do is at a keyboard because the ol' pen and paper tires out my hand and the words don't come out nearly as fast.
Ehhh...somewhere in middle school or early high school I think. That said I still glance over to see where all the special character keys are.gameguy6700Same here for the most part.
I always look at the keyboard, despite the fact that I have taken a few computer classes.

Clearly, you need more practice.

Lol, I never noticed that. Nice catch.
In about a week after it dawned on me I might need to be able to back up some of the claims I'd made in a CV. I can't remember the name of the tutorial program, but it was the Typing of the Dead marathons which really did the trick.jimmyjammer69
We had some kind of children's software called "Paws Party".
I have been using computers for as long as I can remember so I only need to look at the keyboard to find the starting letter.
I don't need to look at the keyboard but I can't type properly in the dark either, I need to have the keyoard in my field of vision but I don't have to look down on it, edit: actually nevermind I tried it with my eyes and got it pefect so... Probably took about five years, I honestly have no idea, it's kinda important to not look down all the time when you're playing online games and since I'vep layed way too much it just came naturally after a while.
I learned when I was 10 or 11 I think. I used some Typing Tutor program for a bit but eventually wound up teaching myself.
I guess I was in the 10th grade I believe when I took a typing class. Didn't use it much until I got a PC and then it took some time to get back into the swing of things. I still look at the keyboard on occasion, but rarely do nowadays.
