I'm black and I found it a bit...weird. Its just a business scheme to appeal to minorities so McDonalds can make a good image.

Definitely.
You're really contradicting yourself. Did you forget agreeing with Pirate700 that it is racist? Gamespot won't let me put that quote here for some reason but it's not hard to find.
You have no idea what would happen if this website was catered solely towards whites. The links you gave do not relate to this topic.
Also, as I said earlier do you really think we can use that to decide if something is racist or not?
"Explain to me: Why is it Ok for McDonalds to advertise solely to blacks, and ignore other demographics? But the inverse would be unacceptable?"
Explain to me how this is relevant to this discussion about the website being racist or not?

I have done no such thing!
You quoted my FIRST post. In which, I said it was unnecessary. Through the whole of this discussion I have repeatedly stated that I did not think it was racist.
I quote Pirate in another thread about religion, but I have not directly quoted him in this thread.
The links I posted show what happens when an private institution makes a decision to cater to an all-white demographic. I could post many, many more that show the exact same thing. History speaks for itself, and is a great indicator of what will happen if similar actions are taken through a different medium. in the future. Its very relevant to this discussion, since my whole argument is that McDonald's website is unnecessary because if of what would happen if McDonalds had created a 365white website.
My question is relevant: Why is this website OK, when you know that a similar website for whites done by an institution as large as McDonalds would garner so much animosity from ethnic communities?
Do not dodge my question.
I really want to know why.[QUOTE="samuraiguns"][QUOTE="pvtdonut54"]
I wish I was black. :(

[QUOTE="Pirate700"]That's true, but making a website dedicated for blacks is racist. And you KNOW if there was a white365.com, there would be people marching in the streets. :| Agreed, 100% yep me too i agree[QUOTE="Unassigned"]Targeting a race for demographic advertising purposes is fine in my opinion, but celebrating a race (like that website) is wrong and racist. Two different concepts which allow two different viewpoints.Unassigned
Why can't we celebrate a white history month i mean god knows we have done alot more for history both bad and good then blacks have ever done........just sayingI believe it became racist when they used this statement.
At McDonald's®, we believe that African-American culture and achievement should be celebrated 365 days a year — not just during Black History Month.

err... because every other month of the year is white history month? Dear God. The purpose of black history month is to bring attention to important figures in history who were neglected and ignored because they were black.
This was... out of the blue?tbone29Yus well, I'm feeling irritable and as such have a low tolerance for faceless bastards disguising a recruitment drive as some kind of patronising celebration of black history. And for awful metaphors involving Baobab trees.

Bunch of corporare ****s. :/clayronSo what is your stance on the appropriateness of this website? Necessary or Unnecessary? While I wouldn't say it's racist, it is absolutely unnecessary.
LJ is right here. Do you really think McDonalds' is racist? I don't think they believe that blacks are superior to all other races. They're just targeting a major demographic, like LJ already stated.
Now is it ridiculous that they feel the need to do this? Yes. Some races shouldn't be celebrated over others.

Post #64 of this thread is where you quoted Pirate700 agreeing that it is racist. Again gamespot won't let me quote it for some reason but it's there.
The first link you posted is still offering the scholarship so I don't really see what you're getting at with it. There where people against it just like there are people against the McDonalds website. That doesn't mean those people are right.
The racism in the second link is undeniable so I don't see how it relates to this because this website does not fit the definition of racist.
I don't see how you base your opinion on what would happen if this website was devoted to whites. While the website may be unnecessary, this topic is about whether or not it's racist.
Also, last time I checked it wasn't ethnic communities that went after things like these, it was clowns like Sharpton and Jackson.

What a way to grab at straws! I was agreeing with his, "If whites can do it, then its racist statement," as I would convey that minority groups are alloted certain rights that non-minority groups are not. I already explained why I posted those in my last statement to you, or are you just glossing over what I have written and completely ignoring it? I have already expressed I did not think it was racist...several times. I am no longer arguing that, I was attempting to prove why I felt it was unnecessary, after you quoted me. And I do agree about the Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson thing. But those two sacks of filth have large followings composed of people who are a part of ethnic communities, and with that lies the potential for backlash if McDonalds were to do a similar thing with a 365white[QUOTE="ownage_denied"][QUOTE="clayron"]

I'm not sure how, but you don't have that quote right. Here's the quote: "If whites can't do it, then that's as racist as the site itself." You agreed with that.

Ok, I mispoke. Doesn't harm the validity of anything I have said. And yes, that is the quote, and I agree with that. What is the issue?
Wait...I see what you are doing. You are not responding to anything I have said, you are latching onto one small mistake I made and using that a way to say I am contradicting myself when, in fact, I have not.
I have yet to backpeddle, and you have yet to address my argument for what it is.

You're starting to confuse me. I don't see how you can agree with that quote but still say you don't think the website is racist. Didn't you say a white website like this would not be allowed? Doesn't that mean that "whites can't do it?" If so, you agreed that it's racist.
Nothing racist about Mcdonalds wanting to celebrate the history of the African American culture. Nothing different than Italians, Jewish, Latin, Asian, Russians, or any other ethnic culture celebrating their own history. Only thing that is racist about this, is how some people look for something racist in every little thing. That racism.

Pirate's quote stated that, "If whites can't do it, then that's as racist as the site itself."
So no, it does not mean that. Whites can do it. Nothing is preventing them from creating such a website. The website would garner tremendous animosity, and be generally considered a no-no, but nothing is preventing the creation of it. Good try trying to simplify my statement to say what you want though, well done.
And there are several things you have not addressed, but, alas, I realize I will not benefit intellectually from any discourse with you...as you have abandoned your argument....so....

You can not honestly believe that McDonalds are sincere about this. They're exploiting African-American culture if anything. That's what's disgusting about it.
As for people saying it's racist against white people... please stop.
