Slick Rick is great but the best thing he's done in like 5 years was a guest spot on a Mos Def CD. Chuck D isn't what he used to be and MC Hammer is a joke.

Yeah neither Chuck D or Slick Rick are great lyricists, but that's not what they are known for really. I'd put Em in my top five, and the words "greatest rapper alive" and "Lil Wayne" should never be in the same sentence, unless it's "Lil Wayne is not the greatest rapper alive, in fact he is probably one of the worst."

Word :lol: As a lyricist, Eminem > Chuck D and Slick Rick Eminem is actually one of the best and he's easily the best act to come out of the 2000s. Anyone who denies that has never listened to the albums Marshall Mathers LP and Eminem Show

Yeah Em was on fire on Forever but that don't make up for every track on relapse being garbage.

There's more sick tracks on Relapse then what Drake's put out in his whole career

So far I've heard that Wayne is the greatest alive, someone else said Soulja Boy was the best out right now and then Drake, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Kanye and Rick Ross are better than Em. WTF is going on here, I guess OT is not the place to discuss hip hop.

Those are almost a decade old. He hasn't done anything since that.

Relapse was a very good album for a return to Hip Hop. He spent most of the time in between ES and Relapse in Rehab and stuff like that. He was addicted to painkillers and it's pretty obvious from the type of music he made. He wasn't kidding on a lot of songs.

I'm pretty surprised no one's mentioned Raekwon yet since this has moved to a "who is the best rapper today" discussion. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt. II has some of the best rapping released by anyone in the last year, especially lyrically.

well out of those 2 Eminem. But the best rapper out there right now is probabl Jay Z. even though Jay Z isn't my thing if you look at his albums from a critics viewpoint they're amazing.
