Well it depends who you're listenin to.

jamn 94.5 which is the big rap station here in boston has the "back-in-the-day buffet" every friday at about noon or so. they play old school beats from the 80s and early 90s. i love listening because its actually good and sometimes theyre even funny. there was this one song where the guy was rapping about how he still lives with his mom and he couldnt tie his shoes or something. then they also play the awesome tupac and old snoop dogg, dr. dre, grandmaster flash, and all that great stuff.

when my sister listens to it she just doesn't get it cuz she's so  hypnotized by todays retarded rap. she claims the old school stuff isn't even rap. i don't understand where the music industry is going these days.  i mostly listen to rock anyway.

Your mistaken, its just the rap you picked that is "dead".  I don't like much of the mainstream stuff but the underground stuff is money.

You know, I don't think that's something exclusive to rap either. I bet every other genre of music has alot of bands/singers that true aficionados of those genres would say are just terrible to the same ratio of ones they like.
