[QUOTE="Carlos_Santana"][QUOTE="Undoing_Ruin"][QUOTE="Carlos_Santana"][QUOTE="Undoing_Ruin"][QUOTE="Carlos_Santana"][QUOTE="Carlos_Santana"]It saddens me as I see proof (teenagers) of how many people today are naive to the true talent of musical composition. Listen and if you say "Rap is teh roxxors, and pwns your link", then I pity you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1i_2HYmJkAUndoing_Ruin
I am quoting myself because I am currently listening to my link and it is amazing
It's not all that great. And rap takes a lot of talent. I believe it takes talent. All music does, unless the music being made is simply a joke. But I do believe ****cal music takes much more talent.I do not. Anyone can play that type of music.
I believe that is a false statement
Learning an instrument to the degree of someone such as Andres Segovia or John Williams takes extreme commitment and dedication, and simply a true love and passion for music, which I believe not EVERYONE has.
I believe that playing that music takes practice only, not talent.
Composing it takes a musical ear, but I believe that it's the least talented type of music.
Good composing requires:
Creativity
Innovation
Emotion
Not everybody is born with the ability to compose music to the degree of creativity and innovation like Claude DeBussy or Syd Barrett. And playing an istrument is learned. So is Rapping. Rap required speaking a language. Language is learned. It takes practice to learn a language. You aren't "born" speaking English.
Lyrics are hard to write, and Music itself is a language. Think about the similarities:
Language evolved. Language has grew into numerous and more similar languages. Spanish and English evolved from Latin. Music evolved. Rock Music and Rap Music were heavily evolved from Blues. There are much more Musical Genres today, than when Music was first being discovered.
So, to my point, Actual music and lyrics aren't as diverse as you think. Just because some music isn't spoken with the mouth doesn't mean it is talentless.
