As I see it, a genre of music becomes truly legitamite when it is transferred to drama, ie an opera or so. Jazz came so with Porgy and Bess, minimalism came so with Nixon in China, rock came so with Tommy and Quadrophenia.
Only thing we have from rap is 'Trapped in the Closet.' I must lament that rap doesn't really have much room for coloratura...
[QUOTE="R0cky_Racc00n"][QUOTE="-Sluggo-"][QUOTE="BladeOfHeaven"][QUOTE="Greatgone12"]Rap. There's a higher percentage of **** rock than there is rap.-Sluggo-
wow i think the complete opposite :P
sorry but singing about shoes or somethng like that isn't my thing :|
old rap i will admit is good though
There is an equal ammount of crap in every genre...except country, which is all crap.
I like them both.
What's with peoples dislike of country?Seems like a horribly broad generalization.I didn't say anything generalizing about it. I only said I dislike it and think it's all crap. Which is my opinion.
I find it hard to believe that someone can think all Country is bad because some of it is some of the best music and it sounded like a generalization of popular CMT country...but if you've been open to it and it's just not your thing then that's cool.[QUOTE="-Sluggo-"][QUOTE="R0cky_Racc00n"][QUOTE="-Sluggo-"][QUOTE="BladeOfHeaven"][QUOTE="Greatgone12"]Rap. Metal is rock...[QUOTE="Greatgone12"][QUOTE="Blood-Scribe"]Neither. I prefer Metal.Blood-Scribe
No it isn't.
Care to explain?Metal is rock...[QUOTE="Greatgone12"][QUOTE="Blood-Scribe"]Neither. I prefer Metal.Blood-Scribe
No it isn't.
Yes it is...[QUOTE="barcx17"]This isn't the place for this question because the majority of people here hate rap.
but to answer the question, I prefer rap cause I like "songs that talk about drugs, money, shoes and women"
-Sluggo-
I know that is sarcasm, but the better rap does not talk about drugs, money, or women.
Well, maybe alcohol, lack of money, and being burnt by women.
I know, i was being sarcastic. It's just that the majority of rap haters on OT generalize rap as what I described above. And their only support to that "fact" is Soulja Boy.
The better rap and the one I like doesn't really talk about that.
thats my cod4 song. when i play we do unlimited matches with trapped in the closet on repeat until we get bored which is usually around 4 hours later. As I see it, a genre of music becomes truly legitamite when it is transferred to drama, ie an opera or so. Yes it is...I want a reason as to why it isn't rock, if he can come up with one... :P Metal has always been different than rock. Everything about it is different.Metal has always been different than rock. Everything about it is different.Bloodbath_87Metal is a form of rock, so how can everything about it be different?

Yeah, but to someone who is not an avid listener, it's all the same.
It's like trance, techno, trip-hop, etc... It all sounds the same to me.

That's true. I couldn't tell you what was trance, techno, or trip-hop because I don't know anything about them.Rock/Metal by far, I can't stand rap, and no its no because I've only heard mainstrem garbage, I've listened to plenty of lesser known artists and didn't like any of them, the genre is just to boring to me

I guess you've never heard of this...
Prince Paul- A Prince Among Thieves
but that was a cute example with Trapped in the Closest, I commend you for your effort even though R. Kelly is an R&B singer and not a rapper...
