Rape and prison sentences

What do you think the sentence should be if someone gets convicted of rape? I would have to say atleast 20 years...probably longer...

Adult Rape - about 15 years

Child Rape - In for life.

I was just watching American History X when Edward Nortons character gets put in jail for only a year or two? Not sure but that made me wonder how long the avg sentence is for a rapist

In all seriousness though, rape is one of the most horrible crimes someone can commit. My first response came out of anger. I know someone who was raped. Being raped completely changed that person. The criminal hasn't been caught, and the victim lives in fear.

Rape should be punished with castration.

Well, plus JPL was IN that thread posting. I just assumed that he was seeing the pics like the rest of us...

Knowing someone who was raped and seeing the effects it has on her, I could only hope that whoever did it gets their "you know what" cut off, and spend the rest of their life in jail. The person who was raped will live with the pain and horror of it forever, so why should the rapist serve for only a portion of their life? There is no excuse for something like this and it should be punished accordingly.nyc05

I support the death penalty for very serious crimes, but individuals never have the right to say who deserves life and who doesn't. Killing a rapist for what is essentialy revenge, doesn't make the situation better for anyone. Two wrongs do not make a right.
