I hate the Republican party. We need a new, younger conservative party who isn't a bunch of morally corrupt, baby boomers who think it's thier job to spread the Christian morals to every part of this country.

On this point, I agree with you completely.
The new healthcare must not be passed. It takes away our freedom of choice and it gives healthcare to illegal immigrants, but because we are at war Obama will use that law that allows passing of bills without going through congress.. Just as he has done with several other laws.00-Riddick-00
Dude what are you talking about? The healthcare bill was passed through Congress last year.
This is truly sad that the first major political initiative would be to attack abortion rights as a way to lower the national deficit (N: it's governed by state law what types of abortion causes are funded by taxpayers, and thirteen states (AK, AZ, CA, CT, IL, MA, MN, MT, NJ, NM, OR, VT, and WV) have non discriminatory assistance for abortions). Politically, I think what many Republicans hoped to do when co-signing this bill is to introduce their moral agenda to foment their constituents and at the same time seem like they're fullfilling their vow of lowering the federal deficit by cutting medicaid to abortion. Because I am pro-choice, I certainly advocate writing our congressmen about this issue... but I understand if other people don't want to indirectly fund abortion through taxes. In the long-term problem of reducing national deficit and creating jobs, I feel like there are so much many more ways other than abortion... but the change has to come from entrepreneurs. Not all the legislation in the world (from either Democrats or Republicans) will pull this economy out of disaster unless we all work determinedly and creatively to create wealth.

On a side note: I had to do a project on the House and Senate committees for AP Government. Here's a great drinking game: drink a shot every time the phrase "job creators" comes up on a House committee website.
Well.. I mean.. if you actually think about this for a second this makes sense... Because then all girls would do would is say oh I was raped.. its just it wasn't a violent rape.. and boom free abortion. I think they are just doing this so that there is actual proof that a rape went on. Im sure if there was evidence of drugging etc that would count as well.
I think that whole.. Oh 13 year old having sex with a 24 year old wouldn't be covered was just ridiculous guess work to make this look worse than it actually is just for the sake of getting people all angry. Forceable is such a broad word that any lawyer will be able to prove there was some force involved so there is really no reason to freak out about this.
I think this is just meant so that some stupid 17 year old girl who has unprotected sex at some college party with older guys doesn't get a free pass to the abortion clinic as she shouldn't

I'm as solidly Democrat as they come, but without solid, intelligent, and constructive opposition, they will fall into corruption and lethargy, and start to cater to fringe groups just as much as the Republican party has today. So while our motives are different, our goals are the same: Democracy dies without a strong and healthy opposition party. Right now, the opposition is the Republican party, and we need them to become sane again.

Exactly. The ones that don't want to take responsibility for their actions and feel the need to place the blame on someone else "raping" them. No more free abortion for them so hopefully it passes. I'm all for the choice but I think most of these rape cases seem to be BS.
I could write a god damned novel on all of the legal tactics and reasoning behind that so called "rapist protection act" that people in this thread, including the topic creator, are simply not educated enough to understand. In fact it's almost comical how off target the original post is, totally disregarding the statutory and civil remedies that already exist as solutions to these problems. But, I've given up all hope on this forum. Enjoy wallowing in your ignorance.
They really need to keep their religious ideology to themselves. Ontain
It's a civil rights ideology founded on the belief that human beings have an inherent right to live. A person trying to prevent what he considers to be murder (and thus a violation of what should be a basic human right) is not a religious ideology. I'm not sure why this is so hard for people like you to grasp.
