I read that before The Road. It's flawless.

I actually like the Hobbit more than LotR >_>

I adore The Hobbit, and I can see why someone would like it better than LOTR, but I don't agree. If they actually do a faithful adaptation of it for the movies...it will be amazing.

It has been confirmed. There will be The Hobbit pt. 1 in 2011 and The Hobbit pt. 2 in 2012.

Those are the movies I'm talking about. If I didn't know about those, I would assume it was "movie", singular. :p I'm not entirely sure I'm comfortable with Del Toro. I have to watch Pan's Labyrinth to see if he's got the chops.

Dune.

9/10.

It'd be a ten if the dialogue wasn't so damn annoyingly stiff.

Dude, this is the most insane book I've ever read. It's really slow at first and has you running around a lot but it's an amazing read.

Let me first say, I love this book. And I love it for so many reasons. I stumbled on to this book a second time when I was looking at reviews for another book. I discovered that i was wrong about my first opinion about the book. In comparison to other teen fiction this book doesn't have false love. What I mean is that the characters actually build a relationship maturely. And even though the romance is apart of the book it isn't dragged out. Its straight to the point. "I like you so what are we going to do about it". The book might be this way because it is told by a guy.

What also got me interested right away about this book is that it takes place in South Carolina. For some reason South Carolina Sounds good on paper. Not in person. But this book is filled with history and Lore. I think someone said this before but I'll repeat it. There is something about paranormal in the south that works. And this book works. The last thing I'll say is the "Creatures" will amaze you. If you read this book don't let anyone tell you what they are because that is part of the fun and the mystery of the book.

9/10

xxxAdvocatexxx

I got an early copy of that book when I worked at a bookstore in england. Sounded pretty good, though I hated how the publisher was advertising it. I cant recall the exact quote, but they said something like "First there was romeo and juliet, then edward and bella, now the next great romance!" Then it kept comparing the book to twilight saying it was the next twilight, for fans of twilight. Turned me off the book completely, but I will give it shot. Better not be like twilight though:evil:

Can't say anything bad about it really, except that the language takes a bit getting used to, but it's a great and pretty disturbing read.

Warrior Soul by Chuck Pfaffer 7/10 An interesting read about the trials and tribulations of a man who happens to be a Navy SEAL. The SEAL operations and how he performs them with his team are incredibly fascinating, but he goes on to much about his personal life, which I could really give a rats ass less about.

Why didn't you like it at as much? In my opinion it would be better the first time because you don't know what's going to happen and you are constantly worried for the man and the boy. What I found strange about the book is how it never tells you or hints at how the world ended... did you notice this?

"American Psycho:" very good book, well written, gets its point across nicely and in a very unique way... and I absolutely HATED reading it (it was extremely disturbing on multiple levels). It's hared to rate a good book that you hated, so... 8/10.

8/10

good read.. :P

HitomiChan

That's kind of generous: I felt like the ending was more of a punishment than a serious attempt at closure for the series (especially for those of us who waited from 1988 to see the entire series through). That brought it from a 9/10 to a 6/10 for me. :?

Pushing in at close to 1100 pages, Stephen King's new tome "Under The Dome" is an epic read. I couldn't get it out of my head when I wasn't reading it and wish the end didn't come so soon a la The Stand. 10/10

I was thinking about buying that book today. Any reason on why you gave it a 6?

The ending was a let down, but it wasn't a bad book overall. Maybe I should of given it a 7.

You don't read a book for the ending. I think it's the journey that matters most.

Two extremely well written, and extremely relevant books. Some of the most thought provoking books I have read in a long time.

In the company of heroes. Probabaly give it a 9/10. I had just read The night stalkers before it and they pretty much had the same stuff in it. Durants account seemed a bit brief in comparison to the night stalkers.

A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

6/10 first time through because I wasn't paying attention. I was reading too many books at once and my overall impression was unoriginal crap. BUT I reread it recently to try and hype myself up for the HBO series, and upon revisiting it...9/10. It was excellent. My opinion of Martin gets better with every book. I can't wait to rerate A Clash of Kings. :P

A Game of Thrones is spectacular. Just a warning: Clash of Kings isn't as good (in my opinion, though that appears to be the general consensus), but A Storm of Swords is just as amazing (if not moreso) than Thrones. I can't wait for the HBO series, even though I don't have HBO. :P I hope it comes out on DVD.

I know. I've read through half of A Storm of Swords. But the same thing happened. I was reading another lengthly series at the time and I was too wrapped up in it to give Martin the attention he deserved. I don't have HBO either, but I'm going to get it just for this series. Ha.

Not sure. Just works that way sometimes I guess. I often appreciate movies or books the second time around, because I can look at it from a different perspective. Games, not so much.

Lovely Bones 4/10 I did not enjoy this book at all, I wouldn't have read it if it weren't for school.
