[QUOTE="darkIink"]you're forgetting "diamonds in the rough"IcyToastersAh,True.
I never got around to getting that one. But doesn't it only have a few new songs? I thought it was mostly covers.
The new songs that I've heard aren't that impressive though, you're right.
[QUOTE="Thyeora"]there are plenty better drummers as well;although maybe not confined to that genre of metal. but as a whole i can name quite a few better drummers5/10 at best. Their drummer was probably the best member of that band and he died so they don't have much going for them. Syn is not as good as people make him out to be. There areplenty better guitarists. All I think of when I see and hear them is a bunch of pretty boys trying to be badasses.

There are definitely better drummers even in the genre of metal I don't think he really stood out that much. Just the most compared to the rest of the band.
2/10
EDIT: Also, who wants to bet that most of these people praising the drummer never cared until he died. To those who will still claim that he's really that great, prove it. I can list off a rather large group of drummers that dominate him.
I liked their live performances though. That one was from Live at LBC/Diamonds in the rough. th3warr1orThey're actually really good live.

Jimmy was always praised by fans. And your list of drummers who "dominate him" is quite subjective.2/10

I've been aware of AV7X for quite some time, my best friend has been a huge fan for ages and I was a bit of a fan in middle school but then lost my taste for them. Not once have I heard anyone praise the drummer. Havin said that I'll just have to take you at your word, doesn't matter to me much anyway I just instantly got flashbacks to that whole kurt kobain nonsense (he was mediocre at best people, get over it). Yes my list of drummers is subjective, but you don't seem to realize that so is your preference for Jimmy, or if you do you're not showing ti very well.
In case you were curious, here's a list right off the top of my head with some links for examples:
Neil Peart
Nick Menza
Dave Lombardo
Gene Hoglan
Frost
Horgh
John Longstreth
Nicko McBrain
I can give you more if you like.
I can give you more if you like.VennligsinnetYou really didn't have to go to all that trouble. I don't care who you rank higher. Greatness is subjective, so let people have their opinions without compiling a list of people you think are better. And I know my preference for his drumming is subjective as well, but I didn't come into the thread to insult their drummer and their fans, nor did I make any claims like you did. I was only refuting your claim that fans never cared about him 'till he died.
The only band I like is holllywood undead, Thank you xxhopelessxx for posting them b4 in a other thread they rock!! And thats weird for me to say since I usually only listen to rap

You have GOT to be kidding me.... as for the topic, Avenged Sevenfold are a solid 6/10 ten for me. All good musicians (with an exception of the vocalist M. Shadows, who's passable at best) all stuck doing bland generic music. Shame. Oh and RIP The Rev, may not have been a fan but it sucks that your not with us anymore.

I don't mean to come off as harsh I just have this problem when people start declaring anyone the "best" of something because it's ridiculous to call anyone the best, especially in something as wide as a music genre, and one such as metal which is widely known for its proficient musicians. . So I offer a strong listen of alternatives that are in my opinion, much more proficient. As for people praising him, i disagree, in my personal experience it was rare that any particular member was praised but if it happened it was usually the lead guitar player, which event hen I obviously disagree with his supposed greatness.

Well I never said he was the best, and I agree that nobody can say "______ is the best" because that's entirely one's opinion and impossible to actually declare. As for Jimmy's (or anyone else's) "greatness," that's your opinion and you're entitled to it.
Yea I noticed the sudden increase of "the Rev" fans and consequently Avenged sevenfold fans. His talent suddenly increased with his death too.... It's not the first time I see this though.2/10

Some people like me liked his drumming, but still only kept it low.2/10

They are ok, probably a 6-7 for me which is good because its not my sort of music even though I listen to a pretty broad range.
