The girl doing the chorus has a hot voice....so 5/10.

Even still, I'd have trouble find a modern mainstream band that compares to Zeppelin.

Pick a more fitting mainstream act in that comparison. Arcade Fire matches up quite well with Zepp.[QUOTE="coolbeans90"]

(good recommendation, never heard them before though, are they considered mainstream?) Perhaps it is the effect that media is filtered over the years, or just a matter o personal preference but it does seem to me that there has been a loss of quality of mainstream music over the past several decades.

In terms of musicianship and lyrical quality, both acts are quite similar. Sound-wise, it's not too fitting, I just wanted to match Zepp with a mainstream band with good lyrics that has good music.Pick a more fitting mainstream act in that comparison. If they didn't debut at the top of the billboard, they were like, 2nd, and they've remained high with their sales. They don't get the most radioplay, but they're rather popular. Kind of how Zepp wasn't all over radios all the time(disco was more readily available and popular in general) but was still mainstream.[QUOTE="tythewarrior"][QUOTE="Lockedge"] Pick a more fitting mainstream act in that comparison. [QUOTE="poseidonwest"]This man knows his stuff. I'll go with this agreed, all its good for is grinding. THATS IT!pointless/10, unless you're in a club looking for a grind, and not even a good grind...only the kind you get with crappy songs like this.

More or less, I find them refreshing. They really, really care about their music and their live performances, and they keep "having fun" in the mix when they do everything. Their lyrics are well written and phrased, they cover a variety of sounds, and they like expanding their live band with their friends from other bands just for kicks. They have an incredible work ethic and it definitely makes up for the fact that their vocals(while having great character) are certainly not excellent, technically. There's a lot of bands with these qualities around these days, popular on the festival circuit and in a lot of the big cities. They just don't get much airplay and media coverage in comparison to big acts like Lady gaga, Eminem, Rihanna, etc. It's ok
I listen to music for entertainment. Lyrical content isn't the only thing i consider entertainment. Songs like this and WillowSmiths little songs aren't going to rewrite history or even last in the mind that long, but they're entertainment and for the brief 3 or so minutes they're on, they serve there purpose

Yeah, college radio would probably play them a bit, but not many areas aside from that. It's unfortunate, I've been pretty busy with school this year, so I haven't done my yearly top 100-ish albums of the year list. Though I haven't done many blogs since, so my top 100-ish of last year is pretty much all there with some quick(or longer) writeups. Check it out if you feel like reading about some other acts going on these days. *shrug*Quite possibly the biggest piece of crap I've ever heard/10.Stupid lyrics, really repetitive, and brutally annoying.
[QUOTE="jeremiah06"]Seriously those two are hardly the same genre or target audience. Wow so we are comparing some random lyrics which are good because why? its hardly relatable is it.... its just trying to be some what poetic but its still not that great and the G6 song is about partying and having a good time. When would you listen to G6 in times of despair and looking to evoke emotions.[QUOTE="carrot-cake"]

That comparison doesn't make any since. You know there were crappy one-hit wonder dance songs in the 70s, right?

oh good then, I thought you were trying to say something bad about them.Yes, that is pretty bad. Also, why is every one of your posts have something to do with hating pop when Taylor Swift is pop?Blacklight2
She's above average, and there's banjo playing in the background. Oh and she could actually sing and write her own songs.
I liked it quite a bit when I heard it first, which was in a car with 2 subs and the song has good bass so I was impressed and listened to it a lot. Until now. Now its on the radio and all the white HS girls think they are gangsta for listening to it and I wanna slap em. The lyrics are pretty unoriginal but I have no idea why it blew up on the charts just now...its been out since last November. It is still better than any other Katy Perry, Kesha, Gaga songs. 7/10

Taylor Swift is garbage, and has the body of an 11 year old.
I'm with Kanye on this one ...
