I'm looking for an album that's just instrumental and relaxing. Acoustic, a bit dancey/trancey, jazz, anything so long as it's nice and sombre.
Kinda like this.
Any recommendations?

Ive got a love hate relationship with DC2... but that song is great. Bruce Cockburn has an acoustic album that would fit right in with those tastes. Its called Speechless, and has quite a few similar songs.
Heres a sample!
I can't check out the song you linked, but based on your description I would suggest Sigur Ros.spazzx625I second this.
Orbital - In Sides is also a very relaxing album.

Dark Side Of The Moon... take a few hits of acid while listening to it while you're at it too.
Also, Disintegration by The Cure.Very soft and sombre.
The Return Of The Space Cowboy by Jamiroquai and La Revancha del Tango by Gotan Project come to mind. Also any album by Buddha Bar should do the trick.
[QUOTE="lobodob"]In rainbows by radiohead. I believe ive said this before...QuantumNihilism
OK computer is better.
Kid A is better >_>I can't check out the song you linked, but based on your description I would suggest Sigur Ros.spazzx625That's what I was going to say. Andy you should have just closed the thread after that. You have the power.... ;)

Kid A is better >_> In Rainbows fits the mellow requirement better. :P BUT. Radiohead is still the wrong answer. The right answer is Sigur Ros. It's true.[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="QuantumNihilism"]Kid A is better >_> In Rainbows fits the mellow requirement better. :P BUT. Radiohead is still the wrong answer. The right answer is Sigur Ros. it's always sigur ros.
check out gordian knot's self titled album. keep in mind that not every song is relaxing, but thats what makes the more sombre songs more effective and the overall effect of the album is very peaceful, relaxing, and balanced.

Is there a particular Mogwai album you'd recommend?AirGuitarist87No, my friend *cough* gave me a CD. But I don't know what the songs were at the moment. I can probably find out when I go home. :o
If you like Phoenix Wright games, I know a couple of good, relaxing tracks that are both jazzy and dancey.
Here you can get different albums from Phoenix Wright. I recommend the Orchestra albums and the jazz/soul album along with CADENZA. They're all really nice and relaxing, at least to me :P
Air's Moon Safari - mmm spacy bass chillage
Magyar Posse's We Will Carry You Over The Mountains - Concise melodic post rock (and a little bit prog)
God Speed You! Black Emporor - Anything by them but my favourite is 'slow riot for new zero kanada' Wonderfully involving but also a bit melancholic.
Blind Faith - self titled 60's rock with pre-Cream Clapton. Waily vocals but some grand weeping riffs imo.
Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun, Signify, The Sky Moves Sideways, and Stupid Dream
Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun

Mudvayne? TechGuru89
Lol, I'm not sure that's considered relaxing. But hey, I'll second that recommendation.
Is there a particular Mogwai album you'd recommend?AirGuitarist87Theyve got some aswesome stuff, but as far as relaxing my best guess would be Happy Songs for Happy People. Its pretty mellow most of the way through. As a Librarian mentioned earlier, Godspeed You... is great, you cant really go wrong there. But they very brooding, not the type of stuff in your first post. But if you like them you might try Explosions in the Sky, my favorite album would be The earth is not a cold dead place.
