No, I am not trying to "spam." The two threads are very similar, so I figured I would post the same thing in both, for I saw no harm.
I happen to like them, and if you don't, then don't listen to them, no one is forcing you.
Maybe you should be a little more considerate when someone is trying to do you a favor and suggest something, even if you don't like the suggestion, at least maybe acknowledge the effort instead of attacking it.
They are, in my opinion, the best alt-rock band ever. I'm astounded that so many people don't know about them.

I think Alternative rock has been on a decline for a while now. Bands that used to be good, like Shinedown, Seether, etc. seem like they're constantly pumping out crap as of late. Especially Seether. That band is depressing. They went from having awesome music like Truth and Fine Again to crappy songs that contain lyrics like "Cause I'm so much more than meets the eye". WTF? They've gotten so bad that they had to rip a line from Transformers?
Much better alt bands out there than Shinedown and Seether. No, it's not on decline. Ah he's decent, but I prefer Nas over him. I said Jay-z though because he's more recognizeable. ;)

I wouldnt say that, i think the difference these days is that the best music imo is not found on the radio while before in the 90s and earlier it was easier to find mainstream wise. Not that we have the internet though there is no excuse to not finding good music:P There are tons of great bands around you just have to find them. All decades have good and bad music, ours is no worse.

Nas is not unknown....and I'd give him the edge over Jay-z.Yea, but jay-z is definitely more of a public figure and believe it or not I have met many rockers who have no idea who Nas is, but they are fully aware of Jay-z, BUT I'll stop hijacking this thread now. Sorry fellas lol

In every generation the radio plays the least common denominator. At work the station we get plays top 40 from about the 60's on. And much of it is bad music. But that would be what the radio was playing in those decades just as today we hear the least interesting, more commercial, and formatted music on the radio. I don't think the best music was ever readily available. Most of the bands of the cIassic era were on minor stations called AOR....not the main statiions. You were more apt to hear Debbie Boone on radio than Zeppelin. Nothing has changed except the stations playing older music now play the music that wasn't mainstream back in the day but which withstood the test of time.Alternative is much too broad, so I'll go with a spectrum of different bands.
Radiohead
Liars
Deerhunter
Modest Mouse (old)
Neutral Milk Hotel
The Octopus Project
Pixies
Portishead (preferrably stuff off their new album, Third)
Wolf Parade
TV on the Radio
The Arcade Fire
Battles
Hella
I seriously doubt you're going to check out these out anyway.
