So, I'm the kind of guy that only listens to old stuff but lately I've been trying to listen to some new rap. Problem is... I have no idea where to start, a lot of rappers I used to like seem to spout total garbage nowadays. Would anyone recommend me some good (emphasis on 'good' :P) rap albums? Anything from 2000-present is fine.

No Fiddy Cent or Soulja Boi, please. I can't stand them. :P

Go to Pandora.com and type in some Artists you like and they will play comparable artists and songs to help expose you to some new music that is like what you already know you like. It's the best place to start.

Flo Rida, T.I, Fort Minor. They aren't the typical Lil'wayne/jay-z crap.

Rakewon's new album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II is pretty damn good, not quite as great as the original but it's still killing most modern rap. Kid Cudi's album and mixtape are actually pretty solid too. If you've never heard Mos Def's collab with Talib Kweli, even though it's pretty old by now, you need to hear the Black Star album. Aesop Rock and Busdriver are other good rappers if you like rap that isn't the pop junk they play on the radio. Also if you like more eccentric beats then you should check out anything MF Doom, a.k.a DOOM, Viktor Vaughn, King Geedorah, and Madvillain...another note on Doom, you have to check out his collab album with DJ Dangermouse, the Danger Doom album The Mouse and the Mask. Just some suggestions.

Not a bad list, but I do hate Busdriver, all songs sound the exact same "zubba zubba zubba zubba zubba zubba ZAAAAA! zubba zubba zubba zubba zubba zubba ZAAAAA! zubba zubba zubba zubba zubba zubba ZAAAAA!" Maybe one word per 10 is legible and coherent it's too fast and cluttered for me. I have seen him live like 4 times now and the sets are always so similar. Sorry I had to express my opinion on Busdriver. :P

Alright I get what you're saying for Busdriver, his mouth isn't always moving on the same page as his mind but I still enjoy his music and you have to at least give him credit for his beats, they're usually sick. Not to the level of Doom, his are pure genius, but I enjoy them.

You sure? Didnt' you hear him in "I poke her face" or "I want this forever". Sure his album sucks but when he is featured in a song. He goes in.

The beats are great and he has some serious flow but he goes so fast I can't keep up, more my fault than his really... And hell AC/DC songs all sound the same and they are still a great band.

Check out Inspectah Deck, Lupe Fiasco, Slaughterhouse(and all of it's members), Slim Thug. You should go to the Off The Books union, I get a lot of songs from there.

Dr. Dre, eminem, tupac, ratatat (their remixes), t.i., some lil wayne, and nas are my favorites
