I'm almost caught up with A.S.O.I.A.F (Game of Thrones) and would liket some recommendations for other series that are good. They don't have to necessarily be exactly like ASOIAF. I've heard Wheel of Time is good but haven't looked into it. I'd like series that are at least 3 books long. I want to get into something that won't end after one book. The longer and more interesting the better. Thanks.

The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind and the Wheel of time by Robert Jordan are both excellent book series' to read. Both are series about 13 books long.

The Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson is comparable to ASoIaF, and ridiculously awesome. Don't bother with Robert Jordan's TWoT.

Weirdly this exact same topic was asked here this afternoon.

I won't bother to repeat all my tedious Discworld praise here then.

Raymond E Fiest's Midkimia series - likely over 20 solid works of fiction (lost count after the 5th trilogy or so).

Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind - over 10 books and still going strong

Assassin / Tawny-Man Trilogy by Robin Hobb - An epic accounting of how one assassin (and a fool) must endeavor to save the world - 6 books.

Rigante series by David Gemmell - just one of this guys many works (but among his best) this tells the story of the Rigante people spanning several generations - heroic fantasy spanning 4 books - sadly Gemmell is no longer with us -_-

MYTH/ Phule series - amusing fantasy / sci fi series by Robert Asprin

Sci Fi:

Stark Trilogy - Military sci fi by John G Hemry - The story of how one man can make a difference - even when he had absolutely no intention of doing so.

Mag Force 7 series - Excedingly well written action comedy about one cyborg's quest to find out who killed his partner - and nearly himself. 3 books.

If I think of any more I'll re-post.

The Millenium Series (aka: The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo series)
