[QUOTE="Mr_Versipellis"]

[QUOTE="Saturos3091"] Click the link. ;) :P And yes I know. It's not the whole point of the music since there are black metal artists that deal with nature, space, and other non-religious things. It's not exactly a message of evil but a message of individualism in an altruistic society (naturally based around Christian morals). It's why the whole 2nd wave of black metal was started in Norway (the 1st wave was purely musical and was from bands in France/Switzerland/UK/Brazil). Bands like Deathspell Omega are really continuing the 4th wave at this point taking black metal into nearly philosophical territory with deep lyrics and messages. I typically prefer death as well (my avi/sig is a technical death metal band from New Zealand).Saturos3091

Sure, I think the music is superb, but I probably phrased my post wrong. Black metal is, like you said, a lot about individualism, right?

[QUOTE="MystikFollower"]

Are you sure? The interview I saw was on this documentary about the history of Metal, and I could've sworn his name was Emperor... I may be mistaken of course, seeing as I normally don't listen to that music lol. I know there is a band called Emperor too though so maybe I am getting them mixed up.. *Drinks more coffee* There now my mind should be clear.

fend_oblivion

I think it's Infernus you are talking about though I'm not so sure myself...

He's a guitarist. Gaahl was their old vocalist but he's quite well known for being creepy, pest is the new guy, I personally prefer Gaahl's vocals.

Was that metal a headbangers journey? Gaahl is definitely in that. "What is the influence for your music?" ".............................Satan *sips wine*"Mr_Versipellis

I remember that. Gaahl sits without blinking for a long time when he finally looks at the camera and smiles. Creepy. You should watch the Gaahl interview spoof on Youtube.

Not trying to hijack this thread or anything but I remember some guy posted a link to a christian death metal song on one of Dimmu Borgir's videos to piss of the satanists and it was pretty good. :P I tried all of the bands listed under christian death metal on wikipedia but it isn't any of those I don't think. Any ideas?

Alright cool... I got lucky and found it in the comments. It was Becoming the Archetype.

The last Christian band I really listened to was Switchfoot. That was a few years ago so I can't vouch for their quality now.

As stated, Anberlin is pretty great. Christian influenced, but they don't cram it down your throat.

I'll add MeWithoutYou. I didn't even know that they were a Christian band until I went to SongMeanings and saw all the comments pointing to scripture.

And I'll also say Sufjan Stevens. again, not overt, but there is a definite influence there.

I might get some flak for this but Switchfoot was the first band I ever really got into. I'm not sure if I'd recommend them or not since my enduring interest in them is probably almost solely nostalgic, but I do think they can put on a pretty impressive live show.

CHristian black metal/white metal is a bit pointless IMO. Isn't the whole point of black metal the atmosphere and the message of evil, as opposed to the music? I personally prefer death metal however, I don't really agree with all that stuff.

I think, since no one mentioned him: Jeff Deyo. He and his band were at the church I go to sometime back.

Casting Crown's new one is great. Got it for Christmas.

Passion Band has got a new one out. It's called Awakening.

as for Demon Hunter. They're coming to Mr Small's Theater in Millvale, Pa. http://www.mrsmalls.com/NewPHP/home.php?section=events&eventLink=May You can order tickets online for that.

:o Red is the best! I would also like to recommend some older switchfoot, like Beautiful Letdown era. Before they became overly commercialized and terrible. Also, Anberlin and older Jars of Clay.

My favorite Christian music group is Hillsong and their youth band, United. They publish two albums a year-- one in the summer from Hillsong (the albums are called Hillsong Live) and one from United.

The only Christian band I know is Sixpence None the Richer. Most people only know their song Kiss Me, but they have some more interesting material too. Not my favorite bands, but I think it's a bit sad they're a one-hit-wonder. They've got a lot of great songs, and Leigh Nash's voice is simply superb.

Reds where its at. Red, Flyleaf, and Skillet make me a happy camper.

I also listen Plumb. She's a solo singer, but her music is awesome!

Also, have you listened to any of the State of Grace c.ds? They are remixs hymns and other old Christian songs.

:lol: At first I was slightly wary about even making this thread, assuming it would attract some manner of religiosity if I wasn't careful. I'm happy to see I actually got a huge number of great looking recommendations for many bands I've never even really heard of before. My next love to God, and my family, is music so anytime I find great new music, I'm ecstatic.
